{"id":228379,"date":"2025-05-07T07:51:44","date_gmt":"2025-05-07T07:51:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/peraltafinancing.com\/advertising\/la-pride-bucks-national-trend-by-retaining-most-sponsors\/"},"modified":"2025-05-07T07:51:44","modified_gmt":"2025-05-07T07:51:44","slug":"la-pride-bucks-national-trend-by-retaining-most-sponsors","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fivemor.com\/?p=228379","title":{"rendered":"LA Pride Bucks National Trend by Retaining Most Sponsors"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>LA Pride, with its annual parade taking place the heart of Hollywood next month, is bucking a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.adweek.com\/brand-marketing\/report-mastercard-nissan-pepsico-and-citi-pull-back-on-nyc-pride-march-sponsorships\/\" target=\"_blank\">national trend<\/a> by holding onto its corporate sponsors as brands like Mastercard, Budweiser, PepsiCo, and Citi divest from similar events in major U.S. cities.<\/p>\n<p>The day-long festival, scheduled for June 8, lists <a href=\"https:\/\/www.adweek.com\/brand-marketing\/ces-delta-sphere-future-air-travel\/\" target=\"_blank\">Delta<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.adweek.com\/agencies\/publicis-nabs-coca-cola-us-media-business-from-wpp\/\" target=\"_blank\">Coca-Cola<\/a>, Casamigos tequila, Mac cosmetics, Sony Pictures, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.adweek.com\/brand-marketing\/soberchella-30-booze-free-brands-get-more-immersive-for-festival-season-kickoff\/\" target=\"_blank\">AEG<\/a>, L\u2019Oreal, Honda, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.adweek.com\/brand-marketing\/2025-nfl-draft-pick-brands\/\" target=\"_blank\">National Football League<\/a>, and at least a dozen more companies on its sponsor roster. Brands ranging from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.adweek.com\/brand-marketing\/stella-artois-is-back-in-the-super-bowl-as-ab-inbev-gears-up-for-ad-blitz\/\" target=\"_blank\">Anheuser-Busch<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.adweek.com\/brand-marketing\/guinness-irelands-favorite-stout-wants-to-be-american-too\/\" target=\"_blank\">Diageo<\/a> to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.adweek.com\/convergent-tv\/comcasts-universal-ads-expands-with-new-publishers-more-ad-inventory\/\" target=\"_blank\">Comcast<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.adweek.com\/brand-marketing\/tariffs-impact-hyundai-and-nissans-ad-plans-but-its-business-as-usual-for-kia\/\" target=\"_blank\">Nissan<\/a> have dialed back or dropped their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gravityresearch.com\/posts\/corporate-approaches-to-pride-2025\/ https:\/\/www.adweek.com\/category\/diversity-equity-and-inclusion\/\" target=\"_blank\">Pride sponsorships<\/a>, with some citing the current economic instability.<\/p>\n<p>Politics loom large, though, with 61% of companies saying pressure from the Trump administration has caused them to rethinking their Pride activities, per Gravity Research\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gravityresearch.com\/posts\/corporate-approaches-to-pride-2025\/\" target=\"_blank\">Pride Pulse Poll<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In recent months, Trump signed an executive order to \u201cend radical and wasteful government DEI programs and preferencing.\u201d Since then, 39% of companies have said they plan to reduce their Pride-centric support, with Gravity Research noting that Pride engagement is \u201cbeing re-engineered\u2014as polarization deepens, brands are favoring lower-profile, internally focused strategies that minimize public exposure while signaling commitment to employees.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"row justify-content-center\">\n<div class=\"col-12\">\n<section class=\"section section--teaser section--teaser_partners section--teaser_partners--horizontal px-0 py-4\">\n<div class=\"section--teaser_partner\">                         <a class=\"link-reset text-decoration-none\" href=\"https:\/\/www.adweek.com\/agencies\/real-risks-dei-retreat-marketers\/\" target=\"_blank\"><br \/><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/static-www.adweek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/dei-retreat-risk-marketing-2025.jpg?w=640&amp;h=360&amp;crop=1\" alt=\"DEI was never foolproof, but it at least increased the number of at-bats for agencies like mine.\" class=\"image image--partner\"\/><br \/><\/a>                     <\/div>\n<\/section>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<p>The situation has meant hundreds of thousands of dollars in lost revenue to Pride events, according to national nonprofit USA Prides, including the loss of 30-year Pride partner AB InBev in its St. Louis hometown.<\/p>\n<p>At least a few brands with recent DEI-related controversies\u2014<a href=\"https:\/\/www.adweek.com\/brand-marketing\/target-ceases-supplier-workforce-diversity-programs\/\" target=\"_blank\">Target<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.adweek.com\/brand-marketing\/hm-pays-dei-nonprofit-83k-debt-after-abrupt-end-to-partnership\/\" target=\"_blank\">H&amp;M<\/a> among them\u2014will take part in Pride celebrations in L.A. and New York. At the same time, Minnesota\u2019s Twin Cities Pride announced in January that it was turning down Target\u2019s sponsorship in the wake of the retailer\u2019s DEI rollback. Target, via an emailed statement, said it will \u201ccontinue to support local Pride events around the country, as we have done for many years.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>LA Pride, which often signs three-year deals with its endorsers, said there are fall-offs and changes each year on the sponsor roster but that \u201cno one has come to us this year and said they\u2019re not renewing because of the current political environment or the rollbacks in DEI,\u201d Cervantes said.<\/p>\n<p>And though the deadline for deals has passed, organizers may continue adding more brands because of ongoing interest, he said, likely to the free street fair that has entertainment programming, food trucks, and brand booths.<\/p>\n<p><!--nextpage--><\/p>\n<div class=\"row justify-content-center\">\n<div class=\"col-12\">\n<section class=\"section section--teaser section--teaser_partners section--teaser_partners--horizontal px-0 py-4\">\n<div class=\"section--teaser_partner\">                         <a class=\"link-reset text-decoration-none\" href=\"https:\/\/www.adweek.com\/brand-marketing\/blackweek-april-fools-stunt-puts-a-spotlight-on-dei-rollbacks\/\" target=\"_blank\"><br \/><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/static-www.adweek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/BLANKWEEK_8baa38.png?w=640&amp;h=360&amp;crop=1\" alt=\"Conference organizers changed the name of the event to &#x2018;Blankweek&#x2019; yesterday to spark industry conversation.\" class=\"image image--partner\"\/><br \/><\/a>                     <\/div>\n<\/section>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<p>LA Pride recently announced talent for the parade, with actor Andrew Rannells serving as celebrity grand marshal. Niecy Nash and Jessica Betts are vanguard grand marshals, while Trino Garcia and Adam Vasquez (content creators known as TrinoxAdam) are community grand marshals.
