Cats have also been identified with tests that came back positive for bird flu. While we have told domestic pet cats have been infected and died of bird flu, the inclusion of skunks and raccoons is new.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.shtfplan.com\/headline-news\/11-cats-in-colorado-test-positive-for-bird-flu-as-more-cat-food-is-recalled\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">11 Cats In Colorado Test Positive For Bird Flu As More Cat Food Is Recalled<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, the Department of State Health Services Zoonosis Control branch, and the Texas Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Lab detected the infections in Deaf Smith, Hansford, Lubbock, Ochiltree, Parmer, and Randall counties.<\/p><div class=\"g g-1\"><div class=\"g-single a-17\"><a class=\"gofollow\" data-track=\"MTcsMSwxLDYw\" href=\"https:\/\/thegrownetwork.com\/fundraiser\/?oid=132&amp;affid=305\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"600\" height=\"465\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.activistpost.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/Offgrid-Survival-Toolkit-2.jpg\"\/><\/a><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cFor mammals, current data shows transmission occurs primarily through consumption of infected animal carcasses, though mammal-to-mammal transmission is possible,\u201d Texas Parks and Wildlife officials\u00a0<a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/tpwd.texas.gov\/newsmedia\/releases\/?req=20250416a\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">said in a news release.<\/a>\u00a0\u201cClinical Signs of (Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza) in mammals may vary based on species and can include ataxia (incoordination, stumbling), tremors, seizures, lack of fear of people, lethargy, runny or crusty eyes and nose, coughing and sneezing, or sudden death.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In February, the\u00a0<a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/bird-flu\/spotlights\/h5n1-response-02262025.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CDC identified three other human<\/a>\u00a0cases of bird flu: a dairy cow worker in Nevada, a poultry worker in Ohio, and the owner of an infected backyard poultry flock in Wyoming.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bird flu\u2019s risk to the public remains low, health officials say, but fatalities have been recorded.\u00a0One person in Louisiana died after being hospitalized with the virus, marking the first bird flu death in the U.S., the\u00a0<a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/media\/releases\/2025\/m0106-h5-birdflu-death.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CDC announced in January<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.shtfplan.com\/headline-news\/three-people-in-china-infected-with-h9n2-bird-flu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Three People In China Infected With H9N2 Bird Flu<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to a report by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.expressnews.com\/news\/texas\/article\/bird-flu-texas-panhandle-foxes-cats-raccoons-20285368.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>The San Antonio Express News,<\/em><\/a>\u00a0last month, a 3-year-old girl in the northern state of Coahuila in Mexico died after contracting the bird flu, Coahuila Health Minister Eliud Aguirre\u00a0<a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/americas\/mexico-reports-first-human-death-h5n1-bird-flu-2025-04-08\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">told Reuters<\/a>. She was infected with the same strain of bird flu involved in the death of the Louisiana resident, the<em>\u00a0<\/em><a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/science\/story\/2025-04-18\/mexican-child-infected-with-h5n1-bird-flu-dies-from-respiratory-complications\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>Los Angeles Times<\/em>\u00a0reports<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Health officials are still investigating how the child was infected, but she had no underlying conditions or history of travel,<a href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/science\/story\/2025-04-18\/mexican-child-infected-with-h5n1-bird-flu-dies-from-respiratory-complications\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u00a0according to the\u00a0<em>Times<\/em>.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Remember, Anthony Fauci and Bill Gates previously funded a study that said bird flu would become the next deadly pandemic.
