Scroll down for the <a href=\"#latestupdate\">Silo 2025.1 update<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Nevercenter has begun its 2025 releases of <a href=\"http:\/\/nevercenter.com\/silo\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Silo<\/a>, its lightweight 3D modelling software, and Milo, its Unreal Engine-based real-time renderer.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/nevercenter.com\/blog\/index.php?pid=137&amp;p=&amp;cat_id=&amp;search=#blt\" target=\"_blank\">Silo 2025.0<\/a> adds the option to generate UVs for a model by projecting them the viewport.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/nevercenter.com\/blog\/index.php?pid=137&amp;p=&amp;cat_id=&amp;search=#blt\" target=\"_blank\">Milo 2025.0<\/a> adds direct support for Silo\u2019s Modifiers.<\/p>\n<p><strong>A lightweight sub-D modeller and accompanying real-time renderer<\/strong><br \/>First released in 2003, Silo built up a reputation as an efficient, focused modelling package.<\/p>\n<p>It has a streamlined set of polygonal and subdivision surface modelling tools, a topology brush for drawing new topology over a reference object, and interactive real-time UV unwrapping.<\/p>\n<p>As well as creating low-poly assets for games or real-time applications, it can be used to rough out base models for sculpting in ZBrush, and supports its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.maxon.net\/en\/zbrush\/features\/interoperability\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">GoZ<\/a> bridge system.<\/p>\n<p>Although development stalled during the 2010s, the pace picked up again with the release of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cgchannel.com\/2022\/03\/nevercenter-ships-silo-2021-and-its-new-milo-renderer\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Silo 2021<\/a>, with Nevercenter also launching Milo, a new standalone Unreal-Engine-based real-time renderer and VR viewer.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Milo 2025.0: support for Silo\u2019s Modifiers<\/strong><br \/>The key change in Milo 2025.0 is direct support for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cgchannel.com\/2023\/08\/nevercenter-releases-silo-2023-milo-203\/\" target=\"_blank\">Silo\u2019s Modifiers<\/a>, making it easier to see the results of procedural modeling operations.<\/p>\n<p>Rather than having to bake modifiers to render them, saving out a .sib file from Silo and reloading it in Milo automatically updates the scene.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Silo 2025.0: generate UVs for models using viewport projection<\/strong><br \/>Silo 2025.0 adds a new option in the Recreate UVs command: Using Current Viewport Projection.<\/p>\n<p>It generates UVs for a model by projecting them from any of the orthographic or perspective viewports, with the option to apply them to the entire object, or only to selected faces.<\/p>\n<p>The software could already generate UVs using a range of other projection types, and unwrap UVs using the LSCM (Least Squares Conformal Mapping) method.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Silo 2025.1 \u2014 New Lathe Modifier, Texture Updates, and More!\" width=\"840\" height=\"473\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Mhwc99KWGII?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<article id=\"latestupdate\">\n<p><strong>Updated 1 May 2025<\/strong>: Nevercenter has released Silo 2025.1. <\/p>\n<p>The update adds a Lathe modifier, for creating 3D forms by rotating a 2D profile around a central axis. It has the same options as the existing Create &gt; Lathe Object tool, but being part of the modifier stack, changes to the model are made non-destructively.<\/p>\n<p>Workflow improvements include the option to drag reference images directly into a scene, with Silo automatically creating a new 3D object with the image assigned as a material.<\/p>\n<p>It is also now possible to skip hidden or wireframe objects when exporting a scene.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pricing and availability<\/strong><br \/>Silo and Milo are available for Windows 10 and macOS 12.0+.<\/p>\n<p>Perpetual licences of Silo have an MSRP of $159, which includes Milo.
