Based on the few details that are available, the Administration\u2019s proposal would seemingly slash the US Department of Agriculture\u2019s funding by over $4.5 billion in FY2026 alone, with deep cuts to Rural Development, the Natural Resources Conservation Service, and the Farm Service Agency, among others. The following comment is attributable to <strong>Mike Lavender, NSAC Policy Director:<\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201c<em>It\u2019s hard to imagine a more effective roadmap for undermining rural communities and the farmers, families, and individuals who call them home<\/em>. <em>Congress should reject the Administration\u2019s proposal and continue its work to craft a responsible, bipartisan FY2026 agriculture appropriations bill that invests in economic opportunity for agricultural communities nationwide.\u201d\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><em>###<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><em>About the National Sustainable Agriculture Coalition (NSAC)The National Sustainable Agriculture Coalition is a grassroots alliance that advocates for federal policy reform supporting the long-term social, economic, and environmental sustainability of agriculture, natural resources, and rural communities.
