Not only does this allow the Fort Worth-based carrier to add capacity, but these are also American\u2019s new \u201cpremium\u201d Dreamliners, featuring all-new cabins, including <a href=\"https:\/\/onemileatatime.com\/news\/new-american-airlines-business-class-seats\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">new business class suites with doors<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/onemileatatime.com\/news\/american-flagship-suite-preferred-seat\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u201cbusiness class plus\u201d seats<\/a> (in lieu of first class).<\/p>\n<p>I was really excited about these planes, and hoped they\u2019d really elevate the inflight experience. While I\u2019m sure these jets will prove to be better than the old ones, I\u2019m a little disappointed, based on our first peek.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-the-first-pictures-of-american-s-new-787-interiors\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"the_first_pictures_of_americans_new_787_interiors\"\/>The first pictures of American\u2019s new 787 interiors<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"\/><\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/xJonNYC\/status\/1917743597601923322\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">@xJonNYC<\/a> (who else?!) just shared the first pictures of American\u2019s new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner cabins. As a reminder, these planes have just 244 seats, including 51 business class seats, 32 premium economy seats, and 161 economy seats.<\/p>\n<p>There are new seats across cabins, and also new cabin finishes, for a bit more modern of a look. But gosh, even based on these few pictures, I can\u2019t help but be disappointed. C\u2019mon, this is supposed to be a brand new era for the carrier\u2019s long haul premium cabins, which will be used for many years to come.<\/p>\n<p>For example, take a look at the front row Flagship Suite Preferred seats. Could the airline not spring for some bigger monitors? Those look downright small for standard business class seats, let alone the more spacious seats in the first row. They\u2019re also so clunky. Talk about a far cry from the cutting edge monitors we see on so many airlines nowadays.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"500\" height=\"433\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.onemileatatime.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/aa-new-cabin-3.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-341022\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Business class pictures shared by @xJonNYC<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>I thought the business class seat design looked pretty elegant in the renderings, but the real pictures make them look sterile and sort of cheap, no? Like, that\u2019s actually how they work? I was hoping these interiors would be a show-stopper, and instead I just feel like they\u2019re kind of uninspiring.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-bottom-line\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"bottom_line\"\/>Bottom line<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"\/><\/h2>\n<p>American just took delivery of its first Boeing 787-9 with new interiors, which will be the carrier\u2019s new design concept going forward. I thought the renderings looked great, while the real thing looks a bit less impressive, in my opinion.
