Turner said he definitely saves on fuel, considering a full charge costs about $9 and gives him 250 miles of range while he largely charges at home.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cI don\u2019t think I\u2019ll ever go back to a gas-powered car,\u201d he said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Turner also answered questions Saturday at Pepper Place, as members of the\u00a0Birmingham Area Chapter\u00a0of Drive Electric Alabama filled the parking lot adjacent to\u00a0Jeni\u2019s Splendid Ice Creams with EVs from Chevrolet, Dodge, Rivian, Jeep, GMC, Ford, BMW, Porsche, Lucid and Tesla. The EVs on display included full-sized pick-ups from Chevy, Ford, GMC and Rivian, as well as a Tesla Roadster.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">In addition, several car dealerships showcased EVs at the Birmingham event.<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-6\" style=\"margin: 8px auto; text-align: center; display: block; clear: both;\">\n<div class=\"zox-post-ad-wrap\"><span class=\"zox-ad-label\">Advertisement. Scroll to continue reading.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cIt was fantastic to talk to so many enthusiastic people about EVs today at Pepper Place,\u201d said Logan Justice, a sales representative from Edwards Chevrolet in Birmingham, standing alongside an all-electric Chevy Silverado pick-up truck. \u201cChevy\u2019s\u00a0EV lineup features crossovers, SUVs and full-sized pick-up trucks, and these vehicles can be perfect for any family or lifestyle. We appreciate the opportunity to take part in this event.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">In metro Mobile,\u00a0members of the Bay Area Chapter of Drive Electric Alabama had an EV showcase of their own at\u00a0Chickasabogue Park in Eight Mile, where they also showcased a variety of EV makes and models.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The two EV showcases were designed to allow EV owners to have 1-on-1 conversations about EV affordability, technology and other topics unique to EVs. In Birmingham, Alabama Power and the Alabama Clean Fuels Coalition also set up booths to offer information about EVs and alternative fuel vehicles. ACFC Executive Director Casey Foster displayed his propane-fueled pick-up truck.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Alabama Power, for instance,\u00a0offers multiple\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.alabamapower.com\/residential\/save-money-and-energy\/energy-saving-products\/electric-vehicles.html\"><span class=\"s2\">EV-related incentives<\/span><\/a>\u00a0to customers, including a $500 rebate for home charger installation and a discount on all residential power between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cThe most trusted source of information about EVs is every-day EV drivers,\u201d said\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/alabamacleanfuels.org\/\"><span class=\"s2\">Alabama Clean Fuels Coalition<\/span><\/a>\u00a0President\u00a0Michael Staley. \u201cEV showcases give people the chance to see the wide variety of EVs on the market, and conversations with EV owners help them separate fact from fiction and better evaluate whether driving electric might work for them and their family.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Drive Electric Alabama also sponsored an EV showcase in Fort Payne earlier this month, which\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/alabamanewscenter.com\/2025\/04\/15\/electric-vehicle-test-drives-prove-educational-at-fort-payne-alabamas-little-river-earth-fest\/\"><span class=\"s2\">featured EV test drives courtesy of Donohoo Chevrolet<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><!-- CONTENT END 1 -->\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Mark Turner offered a unique perspective about driving electric during last Saturday\u2019s Birmingham Earth Day EV Showcase\u00a0at\u00a0The Market at Pepper Place.
