{"id":212790,"date":"2025-04-29T12:53:26","date_gmt":"2025-04-29T12:53:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/peraltafinancing.com\/entertainment\/art\/de-malde-canvas-chronicles-communication-arts\/"},"modified":"2025-04-29T12:53:26","modified_gmt":"2025-04-29T12:53:26","slug":"de-malde-canvas-chronicles-communication-arts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fivemor.com\/?p=212790","title":{"rendered":"De Mald\u00e8 Canvas Chronicles | Communication Arts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<br \/><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/image2.commarts.com\/images1\/9\/3\/7\/1\/1\/1173967_0_480_LTEyMjc3MjI3MTIwODQwNjcwNjA_f.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Responses by <a href=\"http:\/\/empiempi.me\" target=\"_blank\">Luca Franceschetti<\/a>, designer and art director; and <a href=\"http:\/\/linkedin.com\/in\/marko-vurnek-a728861a2\" target=\"_blank\">Marko Vurnek<\/a>, developer.<\/p>\n<p>Background: \u201cGiannantonio De Mald\u00e8 is an artist and art director at web design firm <a href=\"http:\/\/zerotredici.studio\" target=\"_blank\">Zerotredici Studio<\/a>,\u201d says Luca Franceschetti. \u201cAs his first online retrospective, Canvas Chronicles is a journey into Giannantonio\u2019s work.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Design core:<\/strong> \u201cThe typography, whitespace and microinteractions are all focused on highlighting Giannantonio\u2019s work,\u201d\u00a0Franceschetti explains. \u201cThere are some subtle details that make the experience more compelling without distracting the user\u2014the intro animation that is reminiscent of a book cover or an exhibition poster, and the overview and bio transitions that evokes both the gestures of painting and oil tempera spreading on a canvas.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Challenges: <\/strong>\u201cThe challenge was to balance the artwork with a dynamic UI\u2014to make the experience satisfying while keeping the focus on the content, not the container,\u201d says Franceschetti. \u201cI wanted to make sure the design didn\u2019t follow current trends but rather felt like something that might have been elegant five years ago and hopefully still will be five years from now.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Navigation structure:<\/strong> \u201cThe top navigation changes three times contextually to the section or page,\u201d Franceschetti says. \u201cI wanted to make every page as clear as possible, but with the potential to insert some navigation modes where they would be needed or preferred.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Special navigation feature:<\/strong> \u201cMy favorite feature is the progress bar on sliders,\u201d Franceschetti says. \u201cIt has an additional function as a dragger, just in case.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Technology:<\/strong> \u201cThe project was built using <a href=\"https:\/\/astro.build\/\" target=\"_blank\">Astro<\/a> as a static site generator, making it easier to manage components and handle content collections for more structured and scalable content organization,\u201d explains Marko Vurnek. \u201cA custom JavaScript framework was created to handle routing and animations, functioning as a single-page application for a seamless user experience. For the WebGL layer, the OGL library was used for its lightweight structure and lower-level control over rendering.
