{"id":211212,"date":"2025-04-28T18:08:44","date_gmt":"2025-04-28T18:08:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/peraltafinancing.com\/altcoin\/monero-suddenly-explodes-41-after-hackers-launder-330000000-in-bitcoin-with-xmr\/"},"modified":"2025-04-28T18:08:44","modified_gmt":"2025-04-28T18:08:44","slug":"monero-suddenly-explodes-41-after-hackers-launder-330000000-in-bitcoin-with-xmr","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fivemor.com\/?p=211212","title":{"rendered":"Monero Suddenly Explodes 41% After Hackers Launder $330,000,000 in Bitcoin With XMR"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Monero (<a href=\"https:\/\/dailyhodl.com\/currencies\/monero\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">XMR<\/a>) has outperformed the crypto market so far this week following what appears to be an attempt to launder stolen Bitcoin (<a href=\"https:\/\/dailyhodl.com\/currencies\/bitcoin\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">BTC<\/a>) through the \u201cOG\u201d privacy coin.<\/p>\n<p>Early Monday morning, XMR skyrocketed from $232 to $331 in about eight hours.<\/p>\n<p>In a <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/zachxbt\/status\/1916756932763046273\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">post<\/a> on the social media platform X, top on-chain investigator ZachXBT told his 851,000 followers that the spike in XMR appeared to coincide with a \u201csuspicious\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/bitinfocharts.com\/bitcoin\/address\/bc1qcrypchnrdx87jnal5e5m849fw460t4gk7vz55g\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">transfer<\/a> out of a Bitcoin wallet.<\/p>\n<p>ZachXBT says the BTC was immediately exchanged for Monero, sparking the rally for XMR.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cNine hours ago a suspicious transfer was made from a potential victim for 3520 BTC ($330.7M)<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Theft address<\/em><br \/><em>bc1qcrypchnrdx87jnal5e5m849fw460t4gk7vz55g<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Shortly after the funds began to be laundered via 6+ instant exchanges and was swapped for XMR causing the XMR price to spike 50%.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>ZachXBT <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/zachxbt\/status\/1916773996202541495\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">says<\/a> the evidence is quite overwhelming that the transfer and subsequent swap to XMR was a hack because the victim was a user of large US exchanges, lost millions to fees, and made a very sudden transfer of $330 million.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cthat\u2019s how you know it\u2019s likely a theft<\/em><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><em>longtime Bitcoin holder<\/em><\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><em>&gt;is a Gemini, River, Coinbase, etc user<\/em><\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><em>&gt;$330M suddenly moved today and transferred in small increments to instant exchanges, creating hundreds of orders<\/em><\/span><br \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><em>&gt;gonna lose multiple 7 figs to fees \/ inefficient for normal person to buy like this\u201d<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>At time of writing, XMR has retraced from its massive rally, currently trading at $263.
