The offer was likely ignored because Yemen would still be attacking Israeli ships, and this is really about\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.caitlinjohnst.one\/p\/they-tell-you-the-houthis-attack\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">protecting Israel\u2019s ability to commit genocide<\/a>\u00a0in Gaza.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2756<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I saw Cenk Uygur\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/cenkuygur\/status\/1912980565705515106\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">saying<\/a>\u00a0that Trump \u201cdeserves a ton of credit\u201d because of a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.is\/QScpj\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">New York Times report<\/a>\u00a0that, for the time being, he has decided to opt for diplomacy with Iran rather than war.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>No, Trump does not deserve \u201ccredit\u201d for deciding to hold off on starting a war with Iran. That\u2019s like saying I deserve a trophy for not firebombing a preschool today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2756<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There\u2019s a lot going on right now, but the Gaza holocaust is still the worst and most significant thing happening in the world today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-28f84493 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:50%\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">A Palestinian boy burned to death in his wheelchair by Israeli bombs\u2014because he couldn\u2019t move.<\/p><p>Read that again. Moving it out of the periphery of their awareness as one more bad thing happening in our world and getting them to viscerally grasp what\u2019s happening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That\u2019s why you\u2019ll see pro-Palestine accounts saying things like \u201cRead that again\u201d and \u201cLet that sink in\u201d when pointing to the horrific things Israel is doing. Everyone pretty much knows there\u2019s something terrible happening in Gaza by now, but it\u2019s kind of a back burner issue for most people, simmering in the background while their attention is steered toward issues that are less inconvenient to our rulers, like the feuding between mainstream political parties. They\u2019re trying to get them to really stop and experience the reality of this nightmare.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The task therefore is to keep finding new ways to get people to see this thing with fresh eyes. Not as one more terrible thing happening in the world that they don\u2019t like to think about, but for the extremely urgent crisis that it is. Turning each raw fact about this thing from one more data point in a sea of indecipherable white noise into something real in people\u2019s experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You don\u2019t need to be an investigative journalist or expert analyst to do this. The information is all right there in the public. All you have to do is keep finding new and creative ways to get people to really see it and feel it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2756<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Israel\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.972mag.com\/jenin-refugee-camp-reengineered-israeli-army\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">assaults on the West Bank<\/a>\u00a0are a different order of collective punishment from Gaza, because nobody in the West Bank even had anything to do with October 7. There\u2019s not even any pretense that it\u2019s because of something they did; it\u2019s just \u201cThey\u2019re Palestinians. Destroy them.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2756<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Same movie, different soundtrack.
