\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tApril 22, 2025<\/span><\/p>\n \t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n The Indiana Historical Society is excited to announce that a new Indiana county historian has been appointed in Posey County.<\/p>\n New Posey County historian Stanley Campbell recently retired from the Alexandrian Public Library after 17 years of service as Head of Community Relations. His duties included coordinating all aspects relating to public relations, providing publicity and promotion of the library, library programming and special events, instructing drawing and painting programs, advising on craft related programing, serving as a liaison to the Friends of the Library, coordinating the reservation of meeting rooms, providing outreach via both print and social media, video programs, photography, organize and supervise art shows, and assisting patrons in using the library from the circulation desk.<\/p>\n Campbell serves on the Posey County Historical Society board and volunteers at its museum. He is also a member of the New Harmony Working Men\u2019s Institute board. He continues to teach art programs at the Alexandrian Public Library and he specializes in creating pen and ink drawings of Posey County buildings as well as antique farm tractors and cars.<\/p>\n In 1981, through an effort to improve the historical communication network in the state, the Indiana Historical Society and the Indiana Historical Bureau established the Indiana County Historian Program. County historians serve as volunteers appointed by the Indiana Historical Society and Indiana Historical Bureau to promote local history in their counties, connect individuals and groups with history resources, promote collaboration between local history organizations and maintain connections with the Indiana Historical Society and Indiana Historical Bureau.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
