And don\u2019t mix this up with Oresuki either, because that\u2019s a harem anime about misunderstandings.<\/p>\n In Oreshura, this silver-haired girl decides to date a nerdy guy just so she could stop being the most popular girl in school. Sounds like a clever way to solve the popularity problem, right? Nope. Dating the school\u2019s queen bee means making a lot of enemies, and it really annoys his childhood crush.<\/p>\n Oreshura isn\u2019t super deep or emotional, but it\u2019s full of funny moments and a fun way to kill time. There are some parts where the whole \u201cgirl blackmails the guy\u201d trope gets annoying and you feel like knocking some sense into the girl, but hey, at least this is better than shows like MM! or The Familiar of Zero, where the guy gets beaten every time.<\/p>\n Yes, true anime protagonists do not stop at normal girls\u2014they go above and beyond, or in this case, deep into the sea. This time, the guy gets saved by a mermaid, and by mermaid rules, he\u2019s forced to marry the girl. But there\u2019s a catch\u2014this mermaid isn\u2019t from Disney and her dad is a gangster.<\/p>\n And just like every father-in-law, this man doesn\u2019t like an anime protagonist dating his daughter. Now our main character has to figure out how to survive gangsters and date a mermaid. If I had to sum up Seto no Hanayome in one word, it\u2019d be fun. It\u2019s super silly and never takes itself too seriously.<\/p>\n Some episodes are so goofy you\u2019d swear the writers escaped from a mental hospital. But that\u2019s what makes it special. The story is super different from anything I\u2019ve seen, the characters are hilarious, and the mermaid\u2019s dad\u2014honestly, he\u2019s even funnier than the main guy. That just makes everything even better.<\/p>\n I really hate to say this, but the first season of this is actually good and fits the trope right. Soon he realizes Chizuru lives next door, their grandmas are BFFs, and they have to actually pretend to be a couple. See? I told you it fits the trope.<\/p>\n Instead of the girl forcing the guy into a relationship, this time we\u2019ve got the opposite. In Wolf Girl & Black Prince, there\u2019s Erika Shinohara\u2014a girl whose friends all have boyfriends. Scared they\u2019ll leave her out, she snaps a random photo with a stranger and pretends he\u2019s her boyfriend.<\/p>\n But surprise! This stranger turns out to be the most popular guy in school. And he\u2019s not exactly the nicest person around. When he finds out, he agrees to help keep her secret\u2014but only if she becomes his \u201cwolf girl.\u201d Erika soon realizes he\u2019s no Prince Charming. Instead, he\u2019s kind of a mean prankster who loves messing with her.<\/p>\n Sometimes this anime is funny, but other times it\u2019s just Erika trying to figure out her black prince. It\u2019s got that good girl\u2013bad boy vibe, so if you\u2019re into that kind of story and a happy ending, this one\u2019s worth a watch.<\/p>\n Want a romcom anime that\u2019s double the fun and double the drama? It\u2019s got some good old tropes repeating itself, but hey, if the anime is interesting, I don\u2019t mind some old tropes being recycled.<\/p>\n To Love Ru is more about the plot than the actual plot. It follows a shy high schooler named Rito Yuuki, who ends up meeting Lala Satalin Deviluke\u2014a girl from another planet who\u2019s running away from a forced marriage.<\/p>\n Lala quickly decides that Yuki is her true love, and later in To Love Ru Darkness, her two sisters move in with him too. The main reason To Love Ru blew up was because of its fan service and the variation of characters. The main character may look spineless from time to time, but at least he acts like he\u2019s the true love of Lala.<\/p>\n The anime became so popular it got two sequels: Motto To Love Ru and To Love Ru Darkness. You won\u2019t find much pure romance here, but if you\u2019re into the \u201cguy accidentally building a harem\u201d trope, this is totally your kind of show.<\/p>\n What does a forced relationship even look like? High schooler Raku Ichijou is the son of a Yakuza boss, and one day, he\u2019s told that he has to date Chitoge Kirisaki, the daughter of a rival gang leader\u2014just to stop a gang war. Sounds crazy, right?<\/p>\n This could\u2019ve worked out fine, but Raku and Chitoge already got into a bunch of arguments on their very first day of school, so things aren\u2019t looking too good. They also had another close friend named Onodera.<\/p>\n And here\u2019s the twist\u2014Raku had already promised to marry one of them. I think this is the show that started the whole \u201cchildhood promise to get married\u201d trope in a lot of anime with love triangles. Speaking of love triangles, this anime had one of the most heated shipping wars, and if you want to see how it ends, you can read the manga.<\/p>\n Nothing like being forced to date a girl you don\u2019t like, am I right? But what if this girl had a hidden wholesome personality underneath? In this school, there\u2019s a class called Couples Counseling. Here, the pairs are locked in a room, watched by cameras, and graded on how they do.<\/p>\n The unlucky test subjects? A high school guy named Jirou Yakuin and a popular girl named Akari Watanabe. He has a crush on his childhood friend too. There\u2019s only one season of this anime released, but it looks better than a lot of anime that spam the regular love triangle.<\/p>\n Even though the whole \u201ccouples counseling\u201d plot is unrealistic, it helps to maintain the tension throughout the anime, because you can see how the couple grows to love each other. I don\u2019t know when Season 2 is coming out, but you can always watch the first season and go read the manga.<\/p>\n If you think you can\u2019t combine virtual reality and romance, then you can. This is about Kenji Koiso, a moderator to a virtual world called Oz. He\u2019s invited by his crush, Natsuki Shinohara, on a summer trip\u2014but under one condition: he must act like her fianc\u00e9.<\/p>\n He agrees, and once he leaves on the trip, he gets a mysterious encoded message and soon cracks it. The world is in danger. I mean, it\u2019s literally in danger. Summer Wars knows how to start off like some slice-of-life drama before escalating the tension and turning into some fast-paced sci-fi show.<\/p>\n And it even balances everything with some nice drama, romance, and comedy. Summer Wars is in this list because Natsuki\u2019s crush asks him to act like her fianc\u00e9\u2014and as we all know, that\u2019s something no man can say no to.<\/p>\n Now this is one of those deep psychological shows that looks horny on the outside but is actually pretty deep. The story follows Hanabi Yasuraoka and Mugi Awaya, two teens who connect because they\u2019ve both been heartbroken. They used to like their teachers, but those teachers like each other instead.<\/p>\n So Hanabi and Mugi decide to be together, hoping it\u2019ll feel like real love.
