Home Care Worker Immigration Pilot<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Ottawa, Canada \u2013<\/b> Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has released significant updates to the <\/span>Home Care Worker Immigration Pilot Programs<\/b>, including new eligibility requirements and a revised processing timeline.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Two Streams Introduced<\/b><\/h3>\n

IRCC has confirmed that the pilot program will now be divided into two separate streams:<\/span><\/p>\n

  1. Workers in Canada Stream<\/b> \u2013 This stream will officially start processing applications on March 31, 2025 and is designed for those already working in Canada.<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Applicants Not Working in Canada Stream<\/b> \u2013 This stream is set to open in the coming months for applicants outside Canada or those not currently employed in the country.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    New Eligibility Criteria: No Canadian Work Experience Required<\/b><\/h3>\n

    One of the most significant changes in the program is the removal of the previous requirement for Canadian work experience in a caregiving occupation. Instead, applicants must meet the following:<\/span><\/p>\n

    • A full-time job offer in home care within Canada, and\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
    • Recent and relevant work experience, or Completion of at least six months of home care-related training<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Where Can Home Care Workers Be Employed?<\/b><\/h3>\n

      Under the new guidelines, home care workers can be employed in various settings, including:<\/span><\/p>\n

      • Private households<\/span><\/li>\n
      • Home health care service providers<\/span><\/li>\n
      • Home care support service providers<\/span><\/li>\n
      • Direct care agencies<\/span><\/li>\n
      • Pediatric home health care service providers<\/span><\/li>\n
      • Personal care services in residential settings<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        However, <\/span>recruitment or placement agencies<\/b> will not be eligible to provide job offers under this program.<\/span><\/p>\n

        Important Requirements for Caregivers Currently in Canada<\/b><\/h3>\n

        If you are already working in Canada and plan to apply under the <\/span>Workers in Canada Stream<\/b>, make sure to have the following documents ready:<\/span><\/p>\n

        • Language test<\/b> \u2013 Minimum <\/span>CLB 4<\/b> (Canadian Language Benchmark)<\/span><\/li>\n
        • Educational Credential Assessment (ECA)<\/b> \u2013 Minimum of <\/span>high school equivalent to Canadian standards<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
