{"id":198571,"date":"2025-04-22T11:38:34","date_gmt":"2025-04-22T11:38:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/peraltafinancing.com\/animation\/nevercenter-releases-silo-2024-3-and-milo-2024-0\/"},"modified":"2025-04-22T11:38:34","modified_gmt":"2025-04-22T11:38:34","slug":"nevercenter-releases-silo-2024-3-and-milo-2024-0","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fivemor.com\/?p=198571","title":{"rendered":"Nevercenter releases Silo 2024.3 and Milo 2024.0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div id=\"\">\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Silo 2024.0 \u2013 Introducing File Instance\" width=\"840\" height=\"473\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/tYhsZM801rw?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>Originally posted on 13 November 2023, and updated with details of <a href=\"#latestupdate\">Silo 2024.3<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Nevercenter has begun its 2024 releases of <a href=\"http:\/\/nevercenter.com\/silo\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Silo<\/a>, its lightweight 3D modelling software, and Milo, its Unreal Engine-based real-time renderer.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/nevercenter.com\/blog\/index.php?pid=122\" target=\"_blank\">Silo 2024.0<\/a> adds File Instance, a new system for referencing external files within a Silo project, making it easier to manage update to complex models.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/nevercenter.com\/blog\/index.php?pid=124\" target=\"_blank\">Milo 2024.0<\/a> adds a new gradient background type.<\/p>\n<p><strong>A lightweight sub-D modeller and accompanying real-time renderer<\/strong><br \/>First released in 2003, Silo built up a reputation as an efficient, focused modelling package.<\/p>\n<p>It has a streamlined set of polygonal and subdivision surface modelling tools, a topology brush for drawing new topology over a reference object, and interactive real-time UV unwrapping.<\/p>\n<p>As well as creating low-poly assets for games or real-time applications, it can be used to rough out base models for sculpting in ZBrush, and supports Pixologic\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.maxon.net\/en\/zbrush\/features\/interoperability\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">GoZ<\/a> bridge system.<\/p>\n<p>Although development stalled during the 2010s, the pace picked up again with the release of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cgchannel.com\/2022\/03\/nevercenter-ships-silo-2021-and-its-new-milo-renderer\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Silo 2021<\/a>, with Nevercenter also launching Milo, a new standalone Unreal-Engine-based real-time renderer and VR viewer.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Silo 2024.0: new File Instance system<\/strong><br \/>Since then, Nevercenter has been putting out relatively small, but regular, updates to the software, with Silo 2024.0 adding one new feature, File Instance. <\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s a file-referencing system, making it possible to use external files \u2013 either separate Silo files, or 3D models in standard file formats \u2013 as instances within a Silo project.<\/p>\n<p>When the external file is updated, the Silo model will update automatically.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Milo 2024.0 \u2014 Featuring a Powerful New Gradient Background\" width=\"840\" height=\"473\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/9wOjX9VVkec?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>Updated 8 December 2023<\/strong>: Nevercenter has released <a href=\"https:\/\/nevercenter.com\/blog\/index.php?pid=124\" target=\"_blank\">Milo 2024.0<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The update adds a new gradient background that can be used to create a sky backdrop or create more stylized effects. It\u2019s locked to screen space, so it remains fixed as a model is rotated.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Silo 2024.1 \u2013 New Auto UVs Modifier and Other UV\/Material Updates\" width=\"840\" height=\"473\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/iCWo1ry-xps?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>Updated 7 February 2024<\/strong>: Nevercenter has released <a href=\"https:\/\/nevercenter.com\/silo\/features\/#release_notes\" target=\"_blank\">Silo 2024.1<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The update adds a new Auto UVs modifier that updates an object\u2019s UVs in real time, making it possible to work on a model and have Silo adjust its textures automatically.<\/p>\n<p>Once the form of the model is finalized, users can bake the UVs and edit the UV layout in a conventional way.<\/p>\n<p>Auto UVs supports five of Silo\u2019s texture projection modes \u2013 Cubic, Cylindrical, Spherical, Per Face and Planar Regions \u2013 although not yet LSCM, so it\u2019s suited to relatively simple models.<\/p>\n<p>Nevercenter describes it as useful for \u201cbuildings and mechanical objects that mostly just need a repeating material tile applied in a logical way\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The Planar Regions projection has also been updated, with a new option to orient UVs to world co-ordinates: for example, to give keep textures aligned vertically as a model is modified.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Silo 2024.2 \u2014 Native Silicon Support for Mac, Improved Numerical Input\" width=\"840\" height=\"473\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/1Udb6IJKBew?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>Updated 11 April 2024<\/strong>: Nevercenter has released <a href=\"https:\/\/nevercenter.com\/silo\/features\/#release_notes\" target=\"_blank\">Silo 2024.2<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The main change is native Apple Silicon support, which should improve performance on current Macs with M1, M2 or M3 processors.<\/p>\n<p>The update also improves workflow when entering numerical values in the UI, with the option to increment or decremment values using the arrow keys, and to right-click to reset to the default.<\/p>\n<article id=\"latestupdate\"\/>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Silo 2024.3 \u2014 New Modifiers: Boolean, Path Extrusion, and Chain Replicate (and more)!\" width=\"840\" height=\"473\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/xcHgUFIOwwE?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>Updated 25 September 2024<\/strong>: Nevercenter has released <a href=\"https:\/\/nevercenter.com\/index.php?pid=135&amp;p=&amp;cat_id=&amp;search=#blt\" target=\"_blank\">Silo 2024.3<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The update adds a new Boolean modifier, making it possible to create complex shapes non-destructively using Boolean operations, particularly to cut out sections of geometry.<\/p>\n<p>There is also a new Chain Replicate modifier for creating repeating patterns like chains and stairs, and a Path Extrusion modifier for extruding geometry along a path non-destructively.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pricing and availability<\/strong><br \/>Silo and Milo are available for Windows 10 and macOS 12.0+.<\/p>\n<p>Perpetual licences of Silo have an MSRP of $159, which includes Milo.
