Twenty-six committee meeting were held during the week. The Legislature will next convene for Day 24 on Tuesday, April 22 with the House convening at 1 p.m. and the Senate convening at 2 p.m.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">934 bills have been introduced to date. <\/span><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s1\">NOTABLE BILLS ENACTED\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n<p class=\"p5\"><span class=\"s1\">SB79, Sen. Weaver: To define man, woman, boy, girl, father, mother, male, female and sex for purposes of state law, to provide policy <\/span><span class=\"s1\">of the differences between sexes, to provide that state and\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">local public entities may establish separate single-sex\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">spaces or environments in certain circumstances, and to\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">require the state or political subdivisions that collect vital\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">statistics related to sex as male or female for certain\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">purposes to identify each individual as either male or\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">female at birth.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p5\"><span class=\"s1\">SB70, Sen. Jones: To create the Alabama Veterans Resource Center, provide for a board of directors to manage the center as a <\/span><span class=\"s1\">comprehensive, coordinated system of support for\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">veterans and their families.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p5\"><span class=\"s1\">SB36, Sen. Kitchens: To provide further for who is subject to state competitive bid laws, to provide further for electronic bid submissions, <\/span><span class=\"s1\">to provide further for the procedures for protesting certain\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">competitive bid contracts, and to revise requirements for\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">disclosure statement forms.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p5\"><span class=\"s1\">SB67, Sen. Jones: To authorize the Governor to appoint the Commissioner of the Department of Veterans Affairs to serve at the <\/span><span class=\"s1\">pleasure of the Governor, and to revise membership and\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">powers of the board.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p5\"><span class=\"s1\">SB4, Sen. Elliott: To authorize certain public entities to contract with a nonpublic K-12 school to provide school resource officers <\/span><span class=\"s1\">in certain circumstances, and to require public entities to\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">charge the nonpublic school for the full cost of employing\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">any school resource officer.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-6\" style=\"margin: 8px auto; text-align: center; display: block; clear: both;\">\n<div class=\"zox-post-ad-wrap\"><span class=\"zox-ad-label\">Advertisement. Barfoot: To prohibit persons from possessing a part or combination of parts designed or intended to convert a pistol into a <\/span><span class=\"s1\">machine gun.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p5\"><span class=\"s1\">SB115, Sen. Chambliss: To include additional activity that would constitute the crime of impersonating a peace officer.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p5\"><span class=\"s1\">SB54, Sen. Roberts: To further provide for the term \u201ccritical infrastructure facility\u201d to include communications service infrastructure <\/span><span class=\"s1\">and facilities, and further provide for the crimes of\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">unauthorized entry of a critical infrastructure facility and\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">criminal tampering in the first and second degrees.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p5\"><span class=\"s1\">SB78, Sen. Weaver: To prohibit the possession, use, or sale of butyl nitrite or any mixtures containing butyl nitrite, commonly known as\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">\u201cwhippets,\u201d except under certain circumstances, and to\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">prohibit the possession, use, or sale of nitrous oxide,\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">commonly known as \u201claughing gas,\u201d and amyl nitrite,\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">commonly known as \u201cpoppers\u201d or \u201csnappers,\u201d except under\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">certain circumstances.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p5\"><span class=\"s1\">HB93, Rep. Brown: To exempt all property used by the Alabama State Port Authority from the state personal property inventory and <\/span><span class=\"s1\">audit requirements.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p5\"><span class=\"s1\">HB159, Rep. Lovvorn: To rename the Alabama Space Science Exhibit Commission as the U. S. Space and Rocket Center <\/span><span class=\"s1\">Commission, to provide that the Governor serve as an ex\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">officio nonvoting member of the commission, to authorize\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">interested public and private partners to provide facilities\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">for U. S. Drummond: To provide that a Class 2 municipality (Mobile) may declare certain abandoned or discarded debris a nuisance <\/span><span class=\"s1\">and require its abatement or removal at the expense of\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">the owner of the property.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p5\"><span class=\"s1\">SB40, Sen. Kelley: To provide for the recognition of firearm hold agreements between a federal firearm licensee or a municipal or <\/span><span class=\"s1\">county law enforcement officer and in individual firearm\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">owner where the licensee or law enforcement officer\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">agrees to hold a lawfully possessed firearm for a specified\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">period of time.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p5\"><span class=\"s1\">SB60, Sen. Albritton: To allow the Alabama Corrections Institution Finance Authority to increase the amount of bonds issued to <\/span><span class=\"s1\">implement the existing prison modernization plan from\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">$785,000,000 to a total of $1,285,000,000.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p5\"><span class=\"s1\">SB130, Sen. Kelley: To require a person seeking to construct a tall structure within a minimum distance of a military installation to <\/span><span class=\"s1\">receive approval from the local government before\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">construction may begin, and authorize a local government\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">to seek enjoinment of the construction of a tall structure if\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">prior approval was not granted.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p5\"><span class=\"s1\">SB83, Sen. Orr: To require public entities to install and maintain powered, height-adjustable, adult-size changing tables accessible to <\/span><span class=\"s1\">both males and females in newly constructed or renovated\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">public buildings, to provide for grant award payments to\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">public entities with preexisting public restrooms subject to\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">appropriation, and to encourage the installation and\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">maintenance of adult-size changing tables in private\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">sector facilities across the state.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p5\"><span class=\"s1\">SB224, Sen.
