At the conference, which is hosted by the <a href=\"https:\/\/nationalaglawcenter.org\/\">National Agricultural Law Center<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nasda.org\/nasda-foundation\/\">National Association of State Departments of Agriculture (NASDA) Foundation<\/a>, attendees will have the opportunity to hear several presentations focused around various types of water law.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWater is vital to agriculture,\u201d said NALC Director Harrison Pittman. \u201cFrom evolving state and federal regulations, to drought, to water banking and leasing, there is no shortage of legal and policy topics to discuss when it comes to water and agriculture. We\u2019re thankful to have water law experts from the West as a part of our speaker lineup for the 3<sup>rd<\/sup> Annual Western.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The water law-focused sessions and speakers for this year\u2019s Western conference include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.uaex.uada.edu\/media-resources\/news\/2025\/march\/03-06-2025-ark-nalc-western-state-ag-depts.aspx\">Western Water, Ag, &amp; Food: Perspectives from State Departments of Agriculture<\/a>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/fwp.mt.gov\/aboutfwp\/director\">Christy Clark<\/a>, Director, Montana Fish, Wildlife &amp; Parks<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nasda.org\/nasda-member\/j-j-goicoechea\/\">JJ. Goicoechea<\/a>, DVM, Director, Nevada Department of Agriculture<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/nmdeptag.nmsu.edu\/jeff-witte.html\">Jeff Witte<\/a>, Director\/Secretary, New Mexico Department of Agriculture<\/li>\n<li>(Moderator) <a href=\"https:\/\/agriculture.arkansas.gov\/about-secretary-wes-ward\/\">Wes Ward<\/a>, Secretary, Arkansas Department of Agriculture; President, National Association of State Departments of Agriculture<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Water Banking and Leasing in the West: Practical Pointers and Pitfalls\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Pittman emphasized that the Western Conference is designed for attorneys, students, policymakers, producers, and more.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou don\u2019t have to be an attorney to attend and get something out of our conferences,\u201d he said. \u201cThese are premier educational and networking events, designed for those all across the country involved in agriculture. Whether you have been in the industry for years or are just looking to get started, we hope you will consider attending.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Western Conference will be held June 19-20 in Reno, Nevada, at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.peppermillreno.com\/\">Peppermill Resort Spa Casino<\/a>. A livestream option is available.
