\"\"Years ago, I moved to Olympia WA years ago, and I was ready for a new adventures.\u00a0 But wait, I was moving to a town with just one brewery.\u00a0 Fish Brewing had taken over for what Olympia Brewing had left.\u00a0 However, it was time for more.\u00a0 I knew this community could support more than one brewery.\u00a0 As time passed this dream became reality.\u00a0 Without further ado the new generation of breweries in Olympia Washington \u2013 Thurston County AKA \u2013 The South Sound.<\/p>\n

Coming north from Portland just 114 miles or south 60 miles from Seattle sits Olympia WA.\u00a0 Tacoma and Olympia will always fight who\u2019s the \u201cSouth Sound\u201d but for now let\u2019s just consider the Thurston County area.<\/p>\n

So, no one brewery gets bent, and, in this community, one is bound to get bent.\u00a0 We\u2019ll go from oldest to youngest.<\/p>\n

Top Rung Brewing \u2013 12 taps, craft beer at it\u2019s finest.\u00a0 You can find great beer, food and always a good conversation with the bartenders.\u00a0 Ales, lagers and always something new.\u00a0 Must try the Award winning My Dog Scout Stout and for me the Shift Trade IPA never disappoints. Sure, I got some ties here.\u00a0 \ud83d\ude09
You want sports or live music they have events all the time.\u00a0 Pizza is new and food trucks roll in from time to time.\u00a0 Look on their webpage or Facebook<\/a> for the info.<\/p>\n

Three Magnets Brewing \u2013 The meaning of Three Magnets<\/a> \u2013 the town, the country, and the town-country. If you clicked the link join the club, I had to read it twice.\u00a0 \u00a0You want great beer, added Nonalcoholic beer choices then Three Magnets is the place.\u00a0 You arrive and there is beer, soccer, and well more beer.\u00a0 Food options are local food trucks add local bands from time to time.\u00a0 Take the IPAs, NA beer and the Sours you got the Three Magnets of beer for me.\u00a0 Ok, bad word play.\u00a0 Check Facebook<\/a> for the most recent beer releases and food, and music. \u00a0IPA are my fave and they have the hops.\u00a0 Scherler Easy lager for the days I\u2019m working in the yard.<\/p>\n

Matchless Brewing comes to Tumwater and ends the drought of Brewing in the area.\u00a0 Big hoppy beers, sours, and lots of barrel projects.\u00a0 Come to Matchless for the beer, music, and large living room type atmosphere.\u00a0 Sit on a couch relax and let the vast open brewery atmosphere take you away. \u00a0Food is available with food trucks and great music can always be found.\u00a0 Enjoy a hoppy IPA, tart sour and look\/taste for the unique blends they have come up with. One will not go away thirsty.\u00a0 Check Facebook<\/a> for up-to-date events and beer releases.\u00a0 Close by Triceratops Brewing backs up to Matchless makes for the two breweries hop very easy.<\/p>\n

Visiting Triceratops you\u2019re going to find beer, and more beer.\u00a0 Look to Facebook<\/a> for specials and food trucks and new beers dropping.\u00a0 IPAs and their passion for the East coast as they have a proclivity for the old East coast breweries.\u00a0\u00a0 Backing up to Matchless brewing as stated prior makes a great way to spend an afternoon hopping between places.<\/p>\n

You arrive downtown Olympia and there on an artesian well which happens to be number 80. The water that put Olympia on the beer making map.\u00a0 \u00a0Add great food, beer and Olympia beervana history you have Well 80. \u00a0Artesian IPA, and the famous Lager \u201964 which is made from an Olympia brewery recipe and added they also have a Beer master from that era guiding their Head Brewer.\u00a0 Well 80 has added to the downtown Olympia Beer scene and made quite the splash.\u00a0 I always love the Chicken and waffles well because \u2013 Waffles. Facebook<\/a> updates are a must follow as they add events and trivia weekly.<\/p>\n

Headless Mumby Brewing \u2013 Love the name but stay for the beer.\u00a0 Lagers, then more lagers and only lagers.\u00a0\u00a0 Yes, they brew and love their lagers.\u00a0 Once you\u2019re there you will understand. \u00a0Lager 66 for the local union they belong to.\u00a0 IPL (India Pale Lager) makes one go wow, lager texture with the hops flavor.\u00a0 Dark lagers add to the mix and flavors.\u00a0 One does not leave Headless Mumby without becoming a fan. \u00a0They have food trucks, events and great real albums playing all the time check Facebook<\/a> for updates.\u00a0 Most never seen a Headless Mumby, but they are out there lurking.<\/p>\n

Hoh River came along and brought new, fun and excitement.\u00a0 The beers range from hoppy IPAs, add lagers and dark and thick stouts.\u00a0 Bring your food and they will provide the beverages needed.\u00a0 Look for the hot pepper beers and the flavored goses\u2019 they will impress. \u00a0Music can be found and plenty of space to relax.\u00a0 Fun location and with a distillery attached you can find something for all those imbibing.\u00a0 Check Facebook<\/a> for the latest releases.<\/p>\n

\"\"As this is being written I know of one more getting ready to open.\u00a0 ILK Beer.\u00a0 I\u2019ll be checking them out as soon as they open.\u00a0 https:\/\/www.ilkbeer.com\/<\/a>\u00a0 located in the old Fish Brewery space they will be welcome addition to the area.\u00a0 They have some old personalities we all in the area will know.\u00a0 Ilk on Instagram<\/a> has lots of updates.<\/p>\n

I know there are two others in town, but they are taprooms not the actual breweries those are located out of the area being covered. So, hold your horses and a story will come sooner than later.<\/p>\n
