Alex shares his story of making mead, starting a meadery, various styles of mead and how you can make mead at home.<\/li>\n<li>We start with a short discussion of how Alex got started making mead at home, and how that evolved into starting his own meadery.<\/li>\n<li>Alex explains the cultural history of mead and how mead is arguably the oldest beverage in human history. We also talk about how mead moved from a mainstream beverage into more of a niche product.<\/li>\n<li>Alex tells us why he thinks mead has so much potential and why it is growing so rapidly.<\/li>\n<li>We dive into mead making and Alex provides an overview of how you can make mead at home.<\/li>\n<li>Alex explains why he decided to make \u201csession meads\u201d and how he balances out a relatively low, dry finishing gravity to create a drinkable beverage.<\/li>\n<li>We talk about the three main offerings he is producing at the moment: Skyborne, Crimson Queen and his hopped mead.<\/li>\n<li>Alex tells us how you can get to Hiveworks meadery as well as where you can find canned versions of his mead.<\/li>\n<li>He shares his closing thoughts.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>iTunes Announcements<\/strong>: I launched a new <a href=\"https:\/\/itunes.apple.com\/us\/podcast\/beersmith-home-beer-brewing\/id824963861\">video channel for the BeerSmith podcast on iTunes<\/a>, so subscribe now!
