Oklahoma\u2013\u2013<\/strong>Four-year-old Evelynn Luz Lopez,\u00a0 daughter of Gina Flores and Alberto Lopez of Huntingburg,\u00a0 Indiana,\u00a0 and her aunt,\u00a0 Oliva \u201cOli\u201d Mora Regalado,\u00a0 53,\u00a0 on April 14, 2025 became the twenty-fourth and twenty-fifth U.S. dog attack victims of the year,\u00a0 of whom at least 21 died in the violent presence of pit bulls.<\/p>\n Lopez.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n Specified the Huntingburg Police Department in an April 16,\u00a0 2025 media release,\u00a0 issued after completion of an autopsy,\u00a0 \u201cPolice have determined that Oliva suffered a medical emergency that occurred from a preexisting medical condition while inside the residence.\u201d<\/p>\n In police and coroner\u2019s lingo,\u00a0 however,\u00a0 this typically means a heart attack,\u00a0 stroke,\u00a0 or epileptic seizure,\u00a0 any of which may be triggered by extreme stress,\u00a0 such as being confronted by the six pit bulls and a \u201cpoodle mix,\u201d\u00a0 possibly a cockapoo,\u00a0 whom first responders found at the scene.<\/p>\n Such stress would almost certainly be heightened by the circumstance of trying to protect a four-year-old from six pit bulls and a \u201cpoodle mix.\u201d<\/p>\n Continued the Huntingburg Police Department,\u00a0 \u201cAfter this occurred, \u00a0and for unknown reasons,\u00a0 police believe that dog(s) inside the residence then attacked Evelynn, \u00a0who was the only other person inside the residence. \u00a0The juvenile succumbed to the injuries caused by the dog attack.\u201d<\/p>\n \u00a0all dogs were sedated and then euthanized on scene. \u00a0The dogs were then transported to the Southern Indiana Purdue Agriculture Center for laboratory testing.\u00a0 At this time no criminal charges will be filed.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cWhen Gina Flores asked her aunt to watch her young daughter, \u00a0she never would have thought it would be the last time she saw either of them alive,\u201d\u00a0 wrote Sonia Gugliara for The Daily Mail.<\/em>\u00a0 Flores was returning to pick up her child when she made the heartbreaking discovery,\u00a0 police told The Daily Department,\u00a0 family members,\u00a0 nor neighbors have answered several huge questions emerging from the double fatality,\u00a0 beginning with whose pit bulls and \u201cpoodle mix\u201d were involved?<\/p>\n Were any of the pit bulls from a litter born at 107 North Geiger Street,\u00a0 scene of the double fatality?<\/p>\n Some online commenters alleged the residents were backyard pit bull breeders,\u00a0 or were involved in pit bull rescue,\u00a0 but offered no evidence of that. \u00a0ANIMALS 24-7<\/strong>,\u00a0 in three days of intensive searching,\u00a0 found nothing to confirm either allegation.<\/p>\n Several family members have posed for photos with pit bulls and a poodle mix,\u00a0 and live in Huntingburg,\u00a0 but apparently live at different addresses from 107 North Geiger Street.\u00a0\u00a0 The two nearest addresses of pit bull owners in the family appear to be seven and nine blocks away,\u00a0 respectively.<\/p>\n 107 North Geiger Street, Huntingburg, Indiana.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n How did the pit bulls and \u201cpoodle mix\u201d who killed Evelynn Luz Lopez and Oliva Mora Regalado get inside?\u00a0 Were they normally allowed indoors,\u00a0 or were they usually kept outdoors,\u00a0 where Google Earth images offer substantial evidence of their presence?<\/p>\n Who actually lived at 107 North Geiger Street?<\/p>\n Other than the obvious,\u00a0 that Oliva Mora Regalado was babysitting Evelynn Luz Lopez at 107 North Geiger Street,\u00a0 why were the victims at the residence?<\/p>\n Available public records suggest neither victim lived there;\u00a0 Regalado,\u00a0 though with many relatives in Huntingburg,\u00a0 is listed as a longtime resident of Waukesha,\u00a0 Wisconsin.<\/p>\n (Beth Clifton June 2012.<\/p>\n The Dubois County Herald<\/em> on May 22, 2020 reported that both Rene and Lorena Mora were home at 107 North Geiger Street when the Huntingburg Volunteer Fire Department responded to a 7:54 a.m. fire there.<\/p>\n More recently,\u00a0 Rene and Lorena Mora are listed as living at the addresses seven and nine blocks away,\u00a0 but 107 North Geiger Street is not listed as having (Facebook photo)<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n Equally mysterious is the February 27,\u00a0 2025 dog attack death of Cheri Ann \u201cCat\u201d Taylor, \u00a044, \u00a0in \u00a0Tuskahoma, \u00a0Oklahoma,\u00a0 an unincorporated community just north of the Choctaw Reservation.<\/p>\n The dogs and dogs\u2019 owner have not been identified in public records.<\/p>\n \u201cCat was simply walking home when she was savagely attacked by a neighbor\u2019s vicious dogs. She fought bravely for her life, \u00a0but ultimately succumbed to her injuries, \u00a0alone and scared,\u201d\u00a0 recounted a friend,\u00a0 Lisa Duncan,\u00a0 in a GoFundMe posting.<\/p>\n \u201cEvidence has been collected from the scene, \u00a0interviews have been conducted, \u00a0and we are waiting on the medical examiner\u2019s report. \u00a0We will release information at the earliest opportunity.
