For both fixes, Apple says on its <a href=\"https:\/\/go.skimresources.com?id=111346X1569486&amp;xs=1&amp;url=https:\/\/support.apple.com\/en-us\/122282&amp;xcust=1-1-2689109-1-0-0-0-0&amp;sref=https:\/\/www.macworld.com\/article\/2689109\/ios-18-4-1-fixes-two-serious-security-vulnerabilities-and-wireless-carplay-bug.html\" rel=\"nofollow\" data-subtag=\"1-1-2689109-1-0-0-0-0\" data-domain-name=\"apple\" target=\"_blank\">security updates page<\/a> that it is \u201caware of a report that this issue may have been exploited in an extremely sophisticated attack against specific targeted individuals on iOS.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The release notes are small for this one. Outside of the security fixes, this release only claims to fix a bug with wireless CarPlay.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>This update provides important bug fixes, security updates, and addresses a rare issue that prevents wireless CarPlay connection in certain vehicles.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Even though you may not be a specific individual target of hackers, you should update your iPhones and iPads now. The security bulletins are as follows:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"coreaudio\">CoreAudio<\/h3>\n<p>Available for: iPhone XS and later, iPad Pro 13-inch, iPad Pro 13.9-inch 3rd generation and later, iPad Pro 11-inch 1st generation and later, iPad Air 3rd generation and later, iPad 7th generation and later, and iPad mini 5th generation and later<\/p>\n<p>Impact: Processing an audio stream in a maliciously crafted media file may result in code execution. Apple is aware of a report that this issue may have been exploited in an extremely sophisticated attack against specific targeted individuals on iOS.<\/p>\n<p>Description: A memory corruption issue was addressed with improved bounds checking.<\/p>\n<p>CVE-2025-31200: Apple and Google Threat Analysis Group<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"rpac\">RPAC<\/h3>\n<p>Available for: iPhone XS and later, iPad Pro 13-inch, iPad Pro 13.9-inch 3rd generation and later, iPad Pro 11-inch 1st generation and later, iPad Air 3rd generation and later, iPad 7th generation and later, and iPad mini 5th generation and later<\/p>\n<p>Impact: An attacker with arbitrary read and write capability may be able to bypass Pointer Authentication. Apple is aware of a report that this issue may have been exploited in an extremely sophisticated attack against specific targeted individuals on iOS.<\/p>\n<p>Description: This issue was addressed by removing the vulnerable code.<\/p>\n<p>CVE-2025-31201: Apple<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"ios-18-4-1-how-to-install\">iOS 18.4.1: How to install<\/h2>\n<p>To get the latest version of iOS 18 on your phone, head over to the Settings app, then\u00a0<em>General<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<em>Software Update<\/em>. Then follow the prompts to restart and install the update.
