Kennedy Jr. The Associated Press reports that the information came from a \u201cformer FDA official familiar with the discussions\u201d who asked to remain anonymous. Kennedy has said one of his primary goals in running HHS is to root out conflicts of interest and the revolving door between regulators and the companies they\u00a0are tasked\u00a0to regulate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Marks wrote a resignation letter criticizing Kennedy\u2019s approach to public health. He wrote, \u201cAs you are aware, I was willing to work to address the Secretary\u2019s concerns regarding vaccine safety and transparency by hearing from the public and implementing\u00a0a variety of different\u00a0public meetings and engagements with the National Academy of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine.\u00a0However, it has become clear that truth and transparency are not desired by the Secretary, but rather he wishes subservient confirmation of his misinformation and lies.\u201dMultiple media outlets have\u00a0reported<\/a>\u00a0that an HHS official released a statement saying that if Peter Marks \u201cdoes not want to get behind restoring science to its golden standard and promoting radical transparency, then he has no place at FDA under the strong leadership of Secretary Kennedy.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Dr. Vinay Prasad wrote a Substack\u00a0post<\/a>\u00a0in response\u00a0to Marks\u2019 resignation and\u00a0called\u00a0him a \u201cmediocre academic.\u201d\u00a0Prasad also wrote, \u201cPeter Marks was one of the most dangerous, pro-pharma regulators of the 21st century. He is leaving and crafting a narrative that portrays him as a saint. That\u2019s natural.\u00a0But what is shocking is that the media is\u00a0so\u00a0uncritical,\u00a0and\u00a0not honest\u00a0about his actions.\u00a0The same media that lied about lab\u00a0leak, masks, and all things\u00a0covid\u00a0is lying about Peter Marks.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Prasad called out the media for lying about Kennedy pressuring Marks to resign without any specific action cited in their reports. Prasad criticized Marks for approving booster shots for 6-month-old children without\u00a0any\u00a0randomized data. When the two officials refused to bend to the pressure, Marks pressured them to resign. This poor policy by the Biden Administration reveals many significant problems related to accountability and good decision-making in the administrative state that warrant legislative reform.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Dr. Gruber explained some of the tactics Dr. Peter Marks and Janet Woodcock used to pressure her to authorize the vaccine so the Biden administration could move forward with mandates. Gruber said, \u201cThey also made the point, as I state here in the email, that they feel that people\u00a0have a tendency\u00a0to get a vaccine that is authorized, but they may be hesitant and would be more likely to receive the vaccine if it would be licensed.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Dr. Gruber also explained that the agency had data suggesting a risk of myocarditis, which requires a postmarketing study before the vaccines could be fully licensed. Gruber confirmed with Chairman Thomas Massie that Dr. Marks pressured her to \u201ccompress\u201d this\u00a0part of the\u00a0timeline.\u00a0When Gruber left her position in the FDA, Dr. Marks\u00a0was appointed\u00a0by Woodcock\u00a0to replace her in this role.<\/p>\n\n\n\n When Massie asked Gruber if Dr. Marks and Woodcock had received instruction from outside the FDA to move up the timeline, Attorney Hilary LoCicero advised Gruber\u00a0to not\u00a0answer the question\u00a0as it falls under the scope of a deliberative process within the FDA.Alongside Marks\u2019 resignation are 10,000 job cuts within HHS that\u00a0were recently announced. She resigned from the position in January, shortly before Donald Trump\u00a0was sworn in\u00a0as the 47th president of the United States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Pfizer\u00a0press release<\/a>\u00a0states, \u201cBefore joining CDER, Dr. Cavazzoni held several senior executive positions in the pharmaceutical industry for nearly two decades, including at Pfizer, Eli Lilly, and Sanofi. During her prior tenure at Pfizer, Dr. Cavazzoni led clinical sciences and development operations for the company across multiple senior roles.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Pfizer received full EUA approval for its COVID-19 vaccine in August\u00a02021\u00a0while Cavazzoni was the director of CDER within the FDA. The Daily Mail\u00a0reported<\/a>\u00a0that Cavazzoni\u2019s new role with Pfizer could pay up to $500,000 per year before bonuses, according to job posting sites.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Kennedy has promised to root out conflicts of interest, and the latest move by Cavazzoni reflects the ongoing\u00a0revolving door<\/a>\u00a0between big pharmaceutical companies and federal health agencies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n During Kennedy\u2019s\u00a0address<\/a>\u00a0to HHS staff, he said,\u00a0\u201cI\u2019m not going to come in here and impose my belief over any of yours. The ads did not provide the information that the vaccines can increase the likelihood of infection with other non-flu illnesses.
