In this <a href=\"https:\/\/www.modernfrugality.com\/thredup\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">thredUP review<\/a>, you\u2019ll learn my experience with buying, others experience selling, and some alternatives to get you high fashion at low prices.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ve been shopping thredUp for several years and while I don\u2019t buy clothes often I\u2019m an outspoken advocate for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.modernfrugality.com\/buy-clothes-save-the-world\/\">buying them secondhand<\/a>. I\u2019m not perfect but I try to buy as much used clothing as possible.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">My Honest thredUP Review<\/h2>\n<p>TLDR: It\u2019s been years since I hit publish on this thredUP review and I can honestly say I still love the site. It\u2019s not perfect but it allows me to shop secondhand without going into a thrift store (I\u2019ve got bad allergies and if I forget a Claritin I\u2019m a mess.) So keep reading if you want my honest opinion of thredUP.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Shopping on thredUP<\/h3>\n<p>The thing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.modernfrugality.com\/thredup\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">I love about thredUP<\/a> is the selection. It has more inventory than I can count and just keeps expanding. It started with women\u2019s fashion and has expanded to accessories, kids, and maternity.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Unsponsored ThredUP Review: Shop With Me on ThredUP!\" width=\"840\" height=\"473\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/hZL6ty0Imy0?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Last time I bought a work blouse, 2 summer shirts, and a pair of shorts and I found my favorite maternity dress there. Everything is great quality and delivered quickly, even around the holidays. All items were wrapped in their signature tissue paper making the unboxing part of the experience.<\/p>\n<p>For me, thredUP is a once a year treat for a vacation, special event, or because I hate all my clothes. Their prices are higher than Goodwill (which is pretty expensive itself nowadays) but 1000% worth it for the quality and ease of use.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s why I so highly recommend it. Not everyone wants to (or has the time to) drive all over digging around thrift stores to find quality pieces. *Raises Hand* ThredUP makes <a href=\"https:\/\/www.modernfrugality.com\/save-money-online\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">saving money<\/a> and buying secondhand accessible to more people and Mother Earth loves that.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><a href=\"www.savingwithspunk.com\/thredup\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-pin-description=\"Do you want to buy name brand clothing at a fraction of retail cost? Here is how to buy clothing at up to 70% off retail pricing. #frugalfashion #frugalshoppingclothes #howtosavemoneyonclothes #frugalfashiontips #frugalfashionwomen #savemoneyonclothes\" data-pin-title=\"How to Buy Name Brand Clothing Cheaper Than Retail- Learn How to Save up to 70%\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/media.giphy.com\/media\/vmrr3u8w76ev6\/giphy.gif?w=980&amp;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Selling on thredUP<\/h3>\n<p>To get high-quality items people have to sell high-quality items, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.modernfrugality.com\/thredup\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">thredUP<\/a> accepts less than 40% of the items they receive. I\u2019ve seen a ton of bad reviews of their selling process and payouts and while I have personally not sold to them I can empathize with their frustration.<\/p>\n<p>So many people are trying to sell that it takes around 40 days for a \u201cClean Out Kit\u201d to process. And if you want your items back it\u2019ll cost you $10.99. So if you\u2019re going to sell to them, make sure it\u2019s stuff you\u2019re sure they\u2019ll buy.<\/p>\n<p>I would only sell to thredUP as a last resort. If you don\u2019t have a resell store like in your area then thredUP would be a good option. But I might even try selling them on eBay first if you have the time. Otherwise, don\u2019t expect more than $1 for any of your average items.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Alternatives to thredUP<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.platoscloset.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Plato\u2019s Closet<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.clothesmentor.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Clothes Mentor<\/a> are the brick &amp; mortar versions of thredUP. Plato\u2019s is more casual, younger styles while Mentor is business casual and mature female fashion.<\/p>\n<p>Prices are comparable but there\u2019s never a shipping cost. As for selling, you get more cash back and you get it in less than a day. These stores are the superior alternative for selling and have great, albeit different inventory.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.modernfrugality.com\/thredup-review\/_wp_link_placeholder\" data-wplink-edit=\"true\">Poshmark<\/a> is another alternative that I haven\u2019t used but many people have great experiences with. It\u2019s also where I\u2019d sell clothes if I needed to.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.modernfrugality.com\/thredup\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ThredUP<\/a> is for women a little too old for Plato\u2019s but not mature enough for Mentor. ThredUP also has maternity and kids which neither of those stores carries. But Plato\u2019s does accept men\u2019s clothing. So depending on what you want to buy or sell, there\u2019s something for everyone.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">thredUP Coupon<\/h3>\n<p>You can use my <a href=\"https:\/\/www.modernfrugality.com\/thredup\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">thredUP referral link<\/a> to get $10 off your first purchase \u2013 <strong>no minimum required!<\/strong> I hate it when stores make you spend $50 to get a deal. If you spend less than $79 all you\u2019ll pay is around $5.99 for shipping.
