{"id":188063,"date":"2025-04-16T13:39:06","date_gmt":"2025-04-16T13:39:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/peraltafinancing.com\/aerospace\/faa-starts-drone-tests-in-nj-after-2024-fiasco-says-duffy\/"},"modified":"2025-04-16T13:39:06","modified_gmt":"2025-04-16T13:39:06","slug":"faa-starts-drone-tests-in-nj-after-2024-fiasco-says-duffy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fivemor.com\/?p=188063","title":{"rendered":"FAA starts drone tests in NJ after 2024 \u2018fiasco\u2019, says Duffy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has been evaluating drone detection systems in New Jersey following a \u201cdrone fiasco\u201d in 2024, which saw a rise in drone activity in the state, US Department of Transportation (DOT) Secretary Sean Duffy announced.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDo you remember the drone fiasco in New Jersey last year?\u201d Duffy said in a post on <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/SecDuffy\/status\/1912279893603131634\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">X<\/a> published on April 16, 2025. \u201cDo you remember when President Biden\u2019s administration refused to tell the American people who was flying the drones? It was wrong.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Duffy noted that the public felt \u201cgreatly concerned about the absence of information\u201d following sightings of unidentified drones in New Jersey and other East Coast states in November 2024.\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"article-leaderboard bn-1\"\/>\n<p>\u201cPresident Trump and I believe in radical transparency,\u201d Duffy added. \u201cIn this administration, we are committed to the truth and that means telling the American people what our agencies are up to.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The FAA announced it will test drone detection in Cape May, New Jersey, from April 14 to 25, 2025. The purpose of this testing is to ensure that the agency can effectively identify drones in the state\u2019s airspace and prevent any interference with aircraft navigation systems.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Testing will occur on the water close to the Cape May Ferry Terminal during the day on weekdays. Duffy mentioned that the affected communities have been informed, and local authorities will be involved in all of the tests.\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"article-leaderboard bn-2\"\/>\n<p>\u201cThis is about protecting our national security and American safety,\u201d Duffy said, adding that the FAA will operate more than 100 commercial off-the-shelf drones.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The FAA said it has been testing drone detection technologies at airports over the last few years and is expanding testing to off-airport locations. The FAA conducted the first of these off-airport tests in Alaska and will conduct additional testing in New Mexico, North Dakota and Mississippi later in 2025.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In December 2024, the FAA imposed a temporary ban on drone flights over certain infrastructure locations in New Jersey and New York.
