Thirty-four committee meeting were held during the week. The Legislature will next convene for Day 22 on Tuesday, April 15 with the House convening at 1 p.m. and the Senate convening at 2 p.m.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">891 bills have been introduced to date.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"p4\"><span class=\"s1\">NOTABLE BILLS ENACTED\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n<p class=\"p7\"><span class=\"s1\">SB79, Sen. Weaver: To define man, woman, boy, girl, father, mother, male, female and sex for purposes of state law, to provide policy <\/span><span class=\"s1\">of the differences between sexes, to provide that state and\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">local public entities may establish separate single-sex\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">spaces or environments in certain circumstances, and to\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">require the state or political subdivisions that collect vital\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">statistics related to sex as male or female for certain\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">purposes to identify each individual as either male or\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">female at birth.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p7\"><span class=\"s1\">SB70, Sen. Jones: To create the Alabama Veterans Resource Center, provide for a board of directors to manage the center as a\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">comprehensive, coordinated system of support for\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">veterans and their families.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p7\"><span class=\"s1\">SB36, Sen. Kitchens: To provide further for who is subject to state competitive bid laws, to provide further for electronic bid submissions,\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">to provide further for the procedures for protesting certain\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">competitive bid contracts, and to revise requirements for\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">disclosure statement forms.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p7\"><span class=\"s1\">SB67, Sen. Jones: To authorize the Governor to appoint the Commissioner of the Department of Veterans Affairs to serve at the\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">pleasure of the Governor, and to revise membership and\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">powers of the board.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p7\"><span class=\"s1\">SB4, Sen. Chambliss: To include additional activity that would constitute the crime of impersonating a peace officer.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p7\"><span class=\"s1\">SB54, Sen. Roberts: To further provide for the term \u201ccritical infrastructure facility\u201d to include communications service infrastructure\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">and facilities, and further provide for the crimes of\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">unauthorized entry of a critical infrastructure facility and\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">criminal tampering in the first and second degrees.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p7\"><span class=\"s1\">SB78, Sen. Weaver: To prohibit the possession, use, or sale of butyl nitrite or any mixtures containing butyl nitrite, commonly known as <\/span><span class=\"s1\">\u201cwhippets,\u201d except under certain circumstances, and to\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">prohibit the possession, use, or sale of nitrous oxide,\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">commonly known as \u201claughing gas,\u201d and amyl nitrite,\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">commonly known as \u201cpoppers\u201d or \u201csnappers,\u201d except under\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">certain circumstances.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p7\"><span class=\"s1\">HB93, Rep. Lovvorn: To rename the Alabama Space Science Exhibit Commission as the U. S.
