{"id":180283,"date":"2025-04-10T11:35:11","date_gmt":"2025-04-10T11:35:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/peraltafinancing.com\/agriculture\/mid-south-and-western-conferences-will-highlight-regional-trends-in-ag-land-transactions-national-agricultural-law-center\/"},"modified":"2025-04-10T11:35:11","modified_gmt":"2025-04-10T11:35:11","slug":"mid-south-and-western-conferences-will-highlight-regional-trends-in-ag-land-transactions-national-agricultural-law-center","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fivemor.com\/?p=180283","title":{"rendered":"Mid-South and Western conferences will highlight regional trends in ag land transactions \u2013 National Agricultural Law Center"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>By Drew Viguet<br \/>National Agricultural Law Center<br \/>U of A System Division of Agriculture<\/p>\n<p>April 9, 2025<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fast facts:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Conference sessions will detail latest ag land legal and market trends<\/li>\n<li>Peoples Company\u2019s Dave Muth, Quinn Kendrick will present<\/li>\n<li>Registration available <a href=\"https:\/\/nationalaglawcenter.org\/legaleducation\/\">online<\/a>, including livestream option<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. \u2014 Trends in agricultural land ownership and markets impact every region of the country, and upcoming sessions at two premier agricultural law conferences will highlight the latest developments in the West and Mid-South.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/peoplescompany.com\/\">Peoples Company<\/a>\u2019s Dave Muth, director of capital markets, and Quinn Kendrick, general counsel, will lead a session for the 12<sup>th<\/sup> Annual Mid-South Agricultural and Environmental Law Conference online \u201cEarly Bird\u201d event, titled, \u201cAg Land Transactions in the Mid-South: Update on Market &amp; Legal Trends.\u201d The two will present a similar session tailored to the West at the 3rd Annual Western Water, Agricultural, and Environmental Law Conference, \u201cAg Land Transactions in the Western U.S.: Update on Market &amp; Legal Trends.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Both the Mid-South and Western conferences are hosted by the <a href=\"https:\/\/nationalaglawcenter.org\/\">National Agricultural Law Center<\/a>, or NALC, and the National Association of State Departments of Agriculture Foundation, or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nasda.org\/nasda-foundation\/\">NASDA Foundation<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Peoples Company is a full-service national land brokerage and asset management platform based out of Clive, Iowa. In addition to brokerage, the company specializes in comprehensive land services such as auctions, management, appraisals and more.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe ag sector continues to go through a lot of change, much of which is financially very challenging,\u201d said NALC Director Harrison Pittman. \u201cAg land investments and collateralization are big part of the picture in the current environment, and we\u2019re lucky to have Quinn and Dave uniquely address the legal and market trends. In that context, we\u2019re getting the latest read out on legal and market trends at both of our 2025 conferences.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Muth and Kendricks\u2019 sessions will highlight current market and legal trends in agricultural land, such as licensing ecosystem services, and discuss the relationship in market trends to corporate and foreign ownership restrictions. They will also discuss legal and financial challenges, including distressed assets, due diligence trends, and limitations of liability, such as caps on damages.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs market dynamics shift and regulatory changes continue, landowners, investors, and agricultural professionals must stay informed to navigate these complexities,\u201d Kendrick said.<\/p>\n<p>Muth says that changes in markets bring far-reaching implications for agriculture.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBy discussing both the market and legal side, we can paint a full picture for attorneys, lenders, producers, and others on what to expect regarding ag land transactions,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The Mid-South online \u201cEarly Bird\u201d will be held online May 14 for those who register for the conference by May 13. The main conference program will be held June 5-6 in Memphis, Tennessee. Details are available at <a href=\"https:\/\/nationalaglawcenter.org\/midsouth2025\/\">nationalaglawcenter.org\/midsouth2025<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Western conference will be held June 19-20 in Reno, Nevada, at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.peppermillreno.com\/\">Peppermill Resort Spa Casino<\/a>, and features a livestream option.
