Yorkshire Fruit Cake Recipe<\/h2>\n

I found this Yorkshire \u2018Cut And Come Again\u2019 Cake whilst delving into my Grandmother\u2019s handwritten recipe book once again for more inspiration for baking delights! I had heard of such a cake but was unsure of its origins. On googling I discovered it is a traditional Yorkshire cake. The title references the fact that it is so delicious that you have to keep coming back for more!<\/p>\n

This Cut And Come Again Fruit Cake is and easy to make fruit cake \u2013 which as the name suggests will have you coming back for more!<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

It is a really easy to make fruit cake with a little mixed spice \u2013 and very delicious too!<\/p>\n

From Grandmother To Daughter To Great Grandaughter<\/h2>\n

Several of the baking on this website are recipes from my Grandmother\u2019s recipe book and will continue to try out some more. From Date and Walnut Loaf<\/a> to Marmalade Cake<\/a>.<\/p>\n

It always give me such a warm feeling that I am using recipes my Grandma may have used as much as 100 years ago (she was born in 1901) My Mother used these recipes too \u2013 and there are some additions in her handwriting. There are still some blank pages so I am considering writing a few recipes in the book and then eventually handing it down to my daughter! <\/p>\n

There are quite a few loose pages and cuttings from newspapers and magazines which hold their own fascination too. A little piece of family history \u2013 and a legacy down the ages.<\/p>\n

Easy Fruit Cake Recipe<\/h2>\n

Fruit cake recipes range from the complex Christmas Cake through to the easy Tea Loaf recipe or this Cut and Come Again Cake which are just all the ingredients on one bowl, mix up and bake! And the concept of the fruit cake goes bake to ancient times! Some form of fruitcake exists in all parts of the world<\/p>\n

Fruit Cake Recipe<\/h2>\n

Ingredients<\/h3>\n
    \n
  • \n 250g \/ 8oz<\/span> self-raising flour<\/span>\n<\/li>\n
  • \n 125g \/ 4oz<\/span> caster sugar<\/span>\n<\/li>\n
  • \n 125g \/4oz<\/span> butter<\/span>\n<\/li>\n
  • \n 340g \/12ozs<\/span> mixed fruit<\/span>\n<\/li>\n
  • \n 2<\/span> eggs, beaten<\/span>\n<\/li>\n
  • \n 140ml<\/span> milk<\/span>\n<\/li>\n
  • \n 1 teaspoon<\/span> mixed spice<\/span>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Cooking Directions<\/h3>\n
      \n
    1. \n Preheat oven to 160 degrees C\n<\/li>\n
    2. \n Sift the flour into a large bowl.\n<\/li>\n
    3. \n Mix together all the dry ingredients\n<\/li>\n
    4. \n Rub in the butter\n<\/li>\n
    5. \n Add the eggs and milk\n<\/li>\n
    6. \n Mix well with a wooden spoon\n<\/li>\n
    7. \n Grease and line a deep 7\u2033 cake tin\n<\/li>\n
    8. \n Spoon the mixture into the prepared tin\n<\/li>\n
    9. \n Bake for one hour then check if done with a skewer\n<\/li>\n
    10. \n If not done, then leave for another few minutes and check again\n<\/li>\n
    11. \n Allow to cool in the tin before turning out\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div>\n
