\u00a0Twenty
\ndays have elapsed from the incarceration of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind
\nKejriwal, firstly in ED\u2019s custody and thereafter in judicial custody. L\u2019
\naffaire Aam Adami Party and Arvind Kejriwal have been controversial for over a
\nyear. He and his party have been claiming from housetops for the purity and
\ntransparency in public life. But nobody ever imagined that AAP and particularly
\nits leader Kejriwal would plumb to such an unfathomable depth of immorality and
\nopacity. Now leaders of AAP are saying that Kejriwal will continue to run the
\ngovernment from jail. However, the question is how will\u00a0it be feasible?
\nWill it not be a gross violation of constitutional propriety?<\/span><\/p>\n

Mr Kejriwal
\nhad cocked the snook to the summons of the ED nine times and at long last he
\nappeared at the directions\u00a0<\/span>of
\nthe court. If he had nothing to conceal in the liquor gate scam, he could have
\nappeared at the first call but always avoided appearing by saying that the
\nsummonses of the ED were nothing but tools of harassment. Instead of assisting
\nthe ED in investigating the multi-crore liquor scam, he started thumping his
\nchest by blaming it (ED) for working at the behest of a political party in
\npower at the Centre.<\/span><\/p>\n

In fact, in
\nlaw, while the prosecution must\u00a0prove the accused person to be guilty of
\nthe crime at the same time it is also the onus on the accused to prove his
\ninnocence. Kejriwal and other leaders of his party are in the dock, and it is a
\ngeneral perception that they have made money by illegal means. Their recent
\nacts and insistence on running the government from jail further reinforce the
\nperception of the public that the AAP government consisted of a bunch of
\ncriminals and corrupt persons. After all, jails are meant for criminals and not
\nfor constitutional functionaries. Seeing the conduct of Kejriwal and his party
\none finds that even Lalu Yadav, Hemant Soren and Jayalalithaa have been far
\nbetter than these lumpen elements.<\/span><\/p>\n

While in
\njail, Kejriwal will be kept as per jail manuals, then how can he hold the
\ncabinet meeting from the prison cell? This shows that he and his party have no
\nsense of shame in harping on running the government from the prison cell. This
\nalso reflects insecurity and the mens rea<\/i> of Kejriwal otherwise he could
\nhave pleaded for the appointment of any person to be his successor as the Chief
\nMinister of Delhi.<\/span><\/p>\n

It is more
\nshocking that why Lieutenant Governor is keeping silent over the constitutional
\nbreakdown of this magnitude.\u00a0 Why is he allowing the wife of the Chief
\nMinister to sit on his chair to read out his letters and messages without any
\nconstitutional obligations? Kejriwal should have been dismissed, if he declined
\nto resign, on the day he was put in judicial custody.<\/span><\/p>\n

The less
\nsaid about the non-sensical speech of another AAP leader Sanjay Singh after his
\nrelease on bail the better. His speech contained no substance; it was all froth
\nand fury. It was hilariously ridiculous from beginning to end. His logic was
\nfull of the bravado of a dishonest politician. <\/span><\/p>\n

Nobody had
\nthought that a party which started with claims of upholding high moral virtues
\nin public would go down in history with the\u00a0abominable\u00a0low level of
\nimmorality.<\/span><\/p>\n
