Believe it or not, there are actually quite a few helpful tricks Siri can do \u2014 besides<\/em> setting timers and sending texts. Siri was one of the first digital voice assistants, launching with the iPhone 4s in 2011<\/a>. The voice assistant can handle the most basic of voice commands and questions. But stacked up against modern, conversational LLM-powered assistants like ChatGPT (which has a voice mode) and Google Gemini, Siri is the butt of the joke now more than ever.<\/p>\n

It may be a case of a first-mover disadvantage<\/a> \u2014 the software foundation of Siri from 2010 held back Apple\u2019s ability to easily expand it with new capabilities. And progress on an all-new Siri has been tumultuous, to say the least.<\/p>\n
