Alabama is essentially down to one scholarship TE until summer because of one injury after another. <\/p>\n<p id=\"1oSSEW\">That means both true freshmen are missing spring, including one of my favorite players of this signing class, 6\u20196 245 hella\u2019 athletic Kaleb Edwards.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p id=\"gknkjp\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tuscaloosanews.com\/story\/sports\/college\/sec\/2024\/10\/22\/marshall-pritchett-alabama-football-commitment-north-carolina-flip-what-it-means\/75553857007\/\">Marshall Pritchett<\/a>, a true freshman out of Rabun Gap, Georgia, will miss the rest of spring with an injury, per Bama247. Pritchett is expected to recover in time of preseason camp.<\/p>\n<p id=\"Hhfbdn\">In a video posted by Yea <a href=\"https:\/\/sportsdata.usatoday.com\/football\/ncaaf\/teams\/alabama-crimson-tide\/3478\/\">Alabama<\/a> on Tuesday, Pritchett was seen with a large brace along his right leg.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<aside id=\"A64Qpj\">\n<\/aside>\n<p id=\"aqvRF7\">It\u2019s not just a setback for the younger players, but for the unit and the offense as a whole, since Grubb was expected to prioritize tight ends much more this season. <\/p>\n<div id=\"FboB8X\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-dnt=\"true\" align=\"center\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">GROWN. FREAKING. He\u2019s the overwhelming favorite to win the G League MVP, and he is getting serious long-term consideration from the Celtics. <\/p>\n<aside id=\"m6Bupe\">\n<\/aside>\n<p id=\"ejZtq0\">It\u2019s great to see him finally take basketball seriously, and not just lean into his God-given talent <\/p>\n<hr class=\"p-entry-hr\" id=\"0Nqx2x\"\/>\n<p id=\"MBNekx\">Spirits at Alabama basketball are remarkably high, following \u2018Bama\u2019s Elite 8 run. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollbamaroll.com\/2025\/3\/31\/24397683\/alabama-basketball-review-in-retrospect-the-elite-8-was-the-2025-crimson-tides-ceiling\">And, they should be. This team played to its ceiling.<\/a> Here\u2019s how Nate Oats and the players took stock of the season, and what they want their legacy to be:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p id=\"_1647tr7oe\"><strong>Grant Nelson<\/strong><\/p>\n<p id=\"rCTCbJ\">\u201cI mean, how hard we worked, how much \u2018Mudita\u2019 we showed on the court. I think it showed tonight that we didn\u2019t give up. That was a big thing for us this year. We\u2019re not going to give up at the end of games. I\u2019m thankful for that. I\u2019m glad we\u2019ve got guys who are going to come in and play for each other.\u201d<\/p>\n<p id=\"_hew7oo4yq\"><strong>Labaron Philon<\/strong><\/p>\n<p id=\"4GKueu\">\u201cAs one of the best Alabama teams in history. We did a lot of things great, we did a lot of things not great, but we always kept our heads up. I\u2019ve never seen anybody just go at another teammate or anything crazy like that. We all loved each other. It was all love and it\u2019s always going to be that.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<aside id=\"2p3CQ6\">\n<\/aside>\n<p id=\"NlSlUV\">And, Nate Oats reflecting on both the exit to Duke, as well as this being the best three-year run in Alabama history:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p id=\"J9a2aT\">I told our guys, we\u2019ve raised this program to a level where the standard is really high. 99 percent of college basketball players would trade places with these guys with the year we had. But we\u2019re disappointed. We had bigger goals, and it\u2019s disappointing to go out like we went out.<\/p>\n<p id=\"yoN5QR\">But I thought our guys stayed together. They kept playing hard. Duke was good. We didn\u2019t do a good job attacking their switching on defense. We shot 34 percent. We shot 35, they shot 54. It\u2019s hard to overcome that. You get out-rebounded 11-2.<\/p>\n<p id=\"Fzk0B9\">We had said coming into the off-season that if we have a tough shooting night \u2014 two years ago when we were the No. 1 overall seed, I think we shot 3 of 27 from three and lost. But we had gotten 20 O-boards. We\u2019ve got to figure out ways to win when we don\u2019t shoot it well.<\/p>\n<p id=\"aSsGik\">The offensive rebounding was a big one we kind of said we need to be elite at, get to the free-throw line. We didn\u2019t do any well. We got to the free-throw line a fair amount, but it was not enough.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p id=\"uFzdEw\">No surprises there: better defensive play in the backcourt, manufacturing points when jumpers won\u2019t fall, and far better offensive rebounding. Things we\u2019ve addressed here <em>ad naseum <\/em>over the last several months. <\/p>\n<p id=\"AmK8iu\">He\u2019s also correct on expectations and the elevation of the program. A decade ago, we were sweating out maybe earning an NCAA appearance; this time around, people are legitimately disappointed with \u201cjust\u201d an Elite 8 bid. <\/p>\n<aside id=\"SgLmV6\">\n<\/aside>\n<hr class=\"p-entry-hr\" id=\"ovMrdl\"\/>\n<p id=\"PRtPVe\">Apropos of nothing, we just needed some good Gumpy #content<\/p>\n<hr class=\"p-entry-hr\" id=\"6R63yP\"\/>\n<p id=\"QMocQE\">Interesting remarks here in a Kirby Smart interview. <\/p>\n<p id=\"bkYr1i\">If it seems like spending has spun wildly out of control, that\u2019s because it has. Coaches and less-scrupulous agents, and guys solely about the bag (which he also addresses), are manipulating two dates against one another, with schools caught in the middle \u2014 the Portal closure window, and the <em>House <\/em>settlement date: April 7 (perhaps). A small group of folks are scrambling to pay out as much as possible before they are cap-limited. And Kirby also talks about that particular manipulation of the process and especially tampering. Good stuff here, pulling back the curtain of the abattoir and seeing all of the offal on the slaughterhouse floor. <\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p id=\"oLLWg6\">The biggest thing going on is you\u2019ve got two dates you\u2019re operating off of \u2013 there\u2019s a portal date, there\u2019s a <em>House<\/em> settlement date,\u201d Smart said. \u201cThere\u2019s a lot of people doing, they\u2019re not illegal things. They\u2019re just manipulative money things to try to, \u2018move this, move that so I can free up this.\u2019 What\u2019s going to happen, there\u2019s probably going to be a bubble or a spike. Agents are literally trying to take advantage of that every minute they can. They want to get all they can for their client. But at the end of the day, it may backfire because there\u2019s going to be a correction in the market at some point when this cap hits \u2013 if the cap is truly what the <em>House<\/em> settlement wants it to be. If there\u2019s truly a cap, if you just keep trying to frontload and pay out people.<\/p>\n<p id=\"BSwIZ0\">\u201cWhat\u2019s going on in basketball now and football now, people are trying to beat a date. Then, what\u2019s going to happen when those people expect the same money the next year and it\u2019s not there because you\u2019re in a cap? There\u2019s going to be a correction eventually. I don\u2019t think any of us know what\u2019s going to happen.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<aside id=\"d8aTut\">\n<\/aside>\n<hr class=\"p-entry-hr\" id=\"Kelke1\"\/>\n<p id=\"ockX6c\">Throw some kerosene on that fire, baby. <\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p id=\"uzkBsM\">Texas A&amp;M confirmed Williams\u2019s departure.<\/p>\n<p id=\"f7yALZ\">\u201cWe would like to thank Buzz for his years of service heading up our men\u2019s basketball program,\u201d Aggies athletic director Trev Alberts <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Travis_L_Brown\/status\/1907132030090920132\">said in a statement.<\/a> \u201cWe wish he and Corey and their family all the best moving forward. We are excited about the future of Aggie basketball, and we will find the right leader for our program.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p id=\"AgRVJ4\">Keep an eye on this, as the largest university in the nation, and among its most wealthy, will have their pick of coaches. So far, the buzz to replace Buzz seems to be centering on&#8230;former Texas HC Chris Beard. After the \u2018Horns stole Schlossnagle in the winter, and basically killed A&amp;M\u2019s baseball program, I can absolutely seeing the Trustees making the spite move. And, let\u2019s face it, Ole Miss can\u2019t afford to outbid Aggie or offer the luxury of being \u201chome\u201d (Beard is a Houston guy). <\/p>\n<aside id=\"N5uPc4\">\n<\/aside>\n<hr class=\"p-entry-hr\" id=\"UCuZrL\"\/>\n<p id=\"fBdB3D\">Finally, I leave you with this, Jeremy Pruitts\u2019 $100 million lawsuit against Tennessee, alleging (as we have always suspected) that he was a patsy for Phil Fulmer, and threatening to tear the roof off the entire rotten edifice of Vol athletics.
