Research has demonstrated repeatedly the power of storytelling.
\nIndeed, it\u2019s easy for most attorneys to tell the story of their injured client
\nor the malfunction of a product. Stories of individuals, plaintiff or defense,
\nare also fairly easy to summon. But when it comes to businesses, companies or
\ncorporations, lawyers too often forget the power of story, and give but the
\ndriest of facts.<\/p>\n

Yet it is story that will engage the jurors, story that will
\nenable them to relate to your corporate\/business client, story that will give
\nthem points of identification to their own lives, to their experience.<\/p>\n

I remember waiting in a corporate reception area for an
\nattorney and client I was to work with that day. On the walls were photographs,
\nplaques and other corporate memorabilia. When I asked the attorney and client
\nfor the story of the corporation, not just corporation facts, they were at a
\nloss. So I told them the story, as I had gleaned it from all that was portrayed
\nin the reception area. Both were amazed that I could weave a story from so
\nlittle. But it wasn\u2019t so little! Those photographs and plaques told about the
\nheart of the corporation, its community involvement and the background on why
\nit was founded in the first place.<\/p>\n

There was more, of course, but my telling primed the pump.<\/p>\n

Don\u2019t let your business or corporate clients be story-less
\nentities. There is a story behind every venture, and that\u2019s how you engage
\njuror sympathy. Look for the story, mine for it, it is well worth the effort. <\/p>\n
