Brussels Airlines has unveiled the latest special livery in its \u2018Belgian Icons\u2019 series.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The new livery features the Atomium, the atom-shaped monument which, since the 1958 Brussels World\u2019s Fair, has become one of the best-known sights in the Belgian capital.\u00a0<\/p>\n

This design was selected in a public competition that launched in August 2024 and received some 900 submissions.\u00a0<\/p>\n

These were narrowed down to five, after an iterative selection process including a popular ballot which drew more than 50,000 votes. The winning design, the work of Belgian architect Thomas Faes<\/a>, was announced in November 2024 after the deliberations of a panel which included Brussels Airlines CEO, Dorothea von Boxberg, as well as several personalities from the world of culture and the arts.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The result of this creative process, some 400 liters of paint and 2,400 hours of work later, has finally become a reality, with the aircraft in question, an Airbus A320 (registration OO-SNM) being officially presented at an event that took place at the Brussels Airlines Maintenance & Engineering hangar.\u00a0<\/p>\n

As is the case of others in the Brussels Airlines \u2018Belgian Icons\u2019 series, such as the Tintin, Smurfs or Ren\u00e9 Magritte-themed aircraft, the cabin of this A320 has also been decorated with references to the \u2018Atomium\u2019 and its construction process.\u00a0<\/p>\n
