If you\u2019d like to include all kids \u2013 including those with food allergies or those who have medical issues that prevent them from eating candy \u2013 in Halloween, then consider being part of the\u00a0Teal Pumpkin Project<\/a>!\u00a0This important project encourages families to display a teal pumpkin and have non-food options available for kids who can\u2019t have standard candies. You can even add your house to the map\u00a0HERE<\/a>\u00a0so trick-or-treaters know where to find safe treats.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n We know that it\u2019s tricky maneuvering the food allergy world.\u00a0Co-founders Megan and Judy both have food allergies and family members with very severe food allergies.\u00a0It\u2019s hard.<\/p>\n If you have an allergic kiddo, try to focus on language about \u201ckeeping you safe\u201d when discussing allergies. Phrases like, \u201cAll bodies react differently to foods. Some people can eat all foods, but some people can\u2019t. Your body doesn\u2019t like xyz, so in order to keep you safe we have to have other options.\u201d<\/p>\n Make sure to have alternative treats for your kiddo to enjoy too. There are some great common allergen-free candies at\u00a0Target<\/a>, where you can also find a teal pumpkin most years (and it\u2019s reusable)!<\/p>\n You can also have alternative options to candy all together.
