Within just a few years, the place evolved from a simple snack bar into a <strong>culinary hotspot<\/strong>. It was high time for a second venue, according to owner Farouk. And that arrived in the form of <strong>De Buurman Farouk Amsterdam<\/strong>. Under his management, the snack bar quickly became a <strong>community hub<\/strong> for locals, snack lovers, and partygoers who frequent the spot at all hours of the day (and night).<\/p>\n<p>The concept at <strong>De Buurman Farouk Amsterdam<\/strong> is slightly different. Farouk\u2019s great love for fried food (and that fantastic Egyptian falafel) takes a back seat to his passion for <strong>sourdough<\/strong> and <strong>quality coffee<\/strong>. Because one doesn\u2019t exclude the other, he believes. Now located on the ground floor of the Caritas apartment complex, <strong>De Buurman Farouk<\/strong> benefits from <strong>plenty of natural light<\/strong> thanks to large windows. The interior is simple with a slight industrial touch: a sleek concrete floor, iron chairs, and wooden tables all face the street.<\/p>\n<p><strong>De Buurman Farouk<\/strong> certainly lives up to its name, becoming a true neighbourhood spot within just a few months. He had to create his own recipe, as every baker does \u2013 and it remains the <strong>chef\u2019s secret<\/strong>. A barista course and baking countless banana bread (another hobby) also preceded the opening of <strong>De Buurman Farouk<\/strong> on Postjesweg.<\/p>\n<p>The menu features Farouk\u2019s homemade <strong>sourdough bread<\/strong>, his <strong>own banana bread<\/strong>, and delicious <strong>cinnamon rolls<\/strong> with caramelised pecans. There are also <strong>generously topped focaccias<\/strong> prepared with bread from one of the neighbours. The website actively promotes it as <span style=\"box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;\">an\u00a0<strong>excellent<\/strong><\/span><strong>\u00a0spot for remote working<\/strong>. And rightly so \u2013 the <strong>coffee is always fresh<\/strong> (and strong; give it a try), and the <strong>lunch is finger-licking good<\/strong>. The <strong>sweet treats<\/strong> are also worth a mention.<\/p>\n<p>Not in the mood to work?
