The co-founders did not immediately respond to ADWEEK\u2019s request for comment.<\/p>\n<p>The change follows a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.adweek.com\/agencies\/exclusive-akqa-reorgs-globally-after-ceo-departure\/\" target=\"_blank\">global restructuring<\/a> announced in December, which organized the agency under three regional P&amp;Ls: Americas, EMEA, and APAC. Around 6% of staff were laid off as a result of the restructure, a spokesperson told ADWEEK, but the company declined to specify whether those layoffs impacted AKQA Bloom employees.<\/p>\n<div class=\"row justify-content-center\">\n<div class=\"col-12\">\n<section class=\"section section--teaser section--teaser_partners section--teaser_partners--horizontal px-0 py-4\">\n<div class=\"section--teaser_partner\">                         <a class=\"link-reset text-decoration-none\" href=\"https:\/\/www.adweek.com\/agencies\/exclusive-akqa-reorgs-globally-after-ceo-departure\/\" target=\"_blank\"><br \/><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.adweek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/akqa-reorgs-ceo-departure-2024.jpg?w=640&amp;h=360&amp;crop=1\" alt=\"Nearly two months after AKQA announced the departure of founder and CEO Ajaz Ahmed, the WPP-owned digital agency has reorganized its network to better service clients across offices and markets, [&#x2026;]\" class=\"image image--partner\"\/><br \/><\/a>                     <\/div>\n<\/section>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<p>\u201cWe continuously evaluate our business to ensure we are best positioned for the future,\u201d AKQA said in a statement. \u201cWhile we do not comment on individual employment, we have made strategic adjustments to align with our long-term goals. These decisions are never taken lightly, and we are grateful for the contributions of all our team members.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The statement claimed that, with AKQA Bloom\u2019s integration into the broader agency, \u201cexisting initiatives will continue seamlessly, strengthening our dedication to purpose-driven innovation.\u201d <\/p>\n<div class=\"row justify-content-center\">\n<div class=\"col-12\">\n<section class=\"section section--teaser section--teaser_partners section--teaser_partners--horizontal px-0 py-4\">\n<div class=\"section--teaser_partner\">                         <a class=\"link-reset text-decoration-none\" href=\"https:\/\/www.adweek.com\/agencies\/creative-duo-zampa-and-zaro-create-akqa-bloom-a-shop-dedicated-to-driving-social-change\/\" target=\"_blank\"><br \/><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.adweek.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/zampa-zaro-akqabloom-2022.jpg?w=640&amp;h=360&amp;crop=1\" alt=\"Jean Zamprogno and Fernando Pellizzaro formerly led the David agency.\" class=\"image image--partner\"\/><br \/><\/a>                     <\/div>\n<\/section>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<p>When asked how it would continue producing on sustainability and purpose-driven work, a spokesperson said that they\u2019ll keep working with clients that would have typically been handled by Bloom, and that the agency won\u2019t move away from working with sustainability clients.<\/p>\n<p>AKQA Bloom\u2019s closure comes as major brands across industries, from Crocs and Coca-Cola to Shell and Microsoft, opt to drop or <a href=\"https:\/\/hbr.org\/2024\/08\/companies-are-scaling-back-sustainability-pledges-heres-what-they-should-do-instead\" target=\"_blank\">water down their sustainability<\/a> and climate commitments.<\/p>\n<p><!--nextpage--><\/p>\n<p>WPP, the ad agency holding company that owns AKQA, was recently the target of a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.desmog.com\/2025\/02\/10\/ad-giant-wpp-has-broken-international-guidelines-on-climate-and-human-rights-charge-campaigners\/\" target=\"_blank\">complaint<\/a> filed with the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development for its work for oil and gas companies that activists allege are fueling the climate crisis, including BP, Saudi Aramco, and Shell.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s hard for a sustainability agency to thrive in a holding company that is so committed to fossil fuels. Clients with serious sustainability agendas are not lining up to work with agencies with deep ties to polluters like BP and Aramco,\u201d said Duncan Meisel, executive director of activist campaign Clean Creatives. \u201cWith this closure, WPP is picking polluters in dying sectors over clients in growing industries like regenerative agriculture and clean energy, which is an obvious mistake.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Three years after its launch, AKQA Bloom is no more.
