{"id":156729,"date":"2025-03-26T00:33:09","date_gmt":"2025-03-26T00:33:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/peraltafinancing.com\/business\/finance\/big-tech-companies-employ-majority-of-h-1b-visa-workers-where-do-amazon-google-meta-rank-amazon-com-nasdaqamzn\/"},"modified":"2025-03-26T00:33:09","modified_gmt":"2025-03-26T00:33:09","slug":"big-tech-companies-employ-majority-of-h-1b-visa-workers-where-do-amazon-google-meta-rank-amazon-com-nasdaqamzn","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fivemor.com\/?p=156729","title":{"rendered":"Big Tech Companies Employ Majority Of H-1B Visa Workers: Where Do Amazon, Google, Meta Rank? &#8211; Amazon.com (NASDAQ:AMZN)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<br \/><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.benzinga.com\/files\/images\/story\/2025\/03\/25\/H-1b-Visa-Application-Concept-Smartphone.jpeg?optimize=medium&amp;dpr=1&amp;auto=webp&amp;height=675&amp;width=1200&amp;fit=crop\" \/><\/p>\n<div id=\"article-body\" itemprop=\"articleBody\" itemscope=\"\" itemtype=\"https:\/\/schema.org\/Article\">\n<div>\n<p>Big tech companies are employing the majority of approved H-1B visa workers in the U.S., according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pewresearch.org\/short-reads\/2025\/03\/04\/what-we-know-about-the-us-h-1b-visa-program\/\">research<\/a> from the Pew Research Center.\u00a0 Here&#8217;s a look at which companies <a href=\"https:\/\/www.benzinga.com\/news\/24\/12\/42715951\/trump-backs-immigration-visas-musk-praises-his-stance-and-says-rising-tide-lifts-all-boats\">top the list<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Amazon.com, Inc.<\/strong> <span class=\"ticker\" data-ticker=\"AMZN\" data-exchange=\"NASDAQ\" style=\"display: inline-block;\">AMZN<\/span> came in first with 11,000 H-1B visa approvals in 2023, marking the third consecutive year the e-commerce giant topped the list. <strong>Cognizant Technology Solutions Corp.<\/strong> <span class=\"ticker\" data-ticker=\"CTSH\" data-exchange=\"NASDAQ\" style=\"display: inline-block;\">CTSH<\/span>,<strong> Infosys Ltd. <\/strong><span class=\"ticker\" data-ticker=\"INFY\" data-exchange=\"NYSE\" style=\"display: inline-block;\">INFY<\/span> and<strong> Tata Consultancy Services, Inc.<\/strong> round out the top four.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Read Next:<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.benzinga.com\/25\/03\/44475805\/homebuilders-kb-home-lennar-cut-prices-as-homebuyer-demand-has-slowed-materially\"><strong> Homebuilders KB Home, Lennar Cut Prices As Buyer Demand Has \u2018Slowed Materially\u2019<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Alphabet, Inc.&#8217;s<\/strong> <span class=\"ticker\" data-ticker=\"GOOG\" data-exchange=\"NASDAQ\" style=\"display: inline-block;\">GOOG<\/span> <span class=\"ticker\" data-ticker=\"GOOGL\" data-exchange=\"NASDAQ\" style=\"display: inline-block;\">GOOGL<\/span><strong> Google<\/strong> came in fifth place and employed almost 5,550 H-1B workers in 2023, less than half compared to Amazon.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Microsoft<\/strong> <strong>Corp.<\/strong> <span class=\"ticker\" data-ticker=\"MSFT\" data-exchange=\"NASDAQ\" style=\"display: inline-block;\">MSFT<\/span> followed in sixth with nearly 4,800 workers and <strong>Apple Inc. <\/strong><span class=\"ticker\" data-ticker=\"AAPL\" data-exchange=\"NASDAQ\" style=\"display: inline-block;\">AAPL<\/span> came in right behind at 3,800.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Meta Platforms, Inc.<\/strong> <span class=\"ticker\" data-ticker=\"META\" data-exchange=\"NASDAQ\" style=\"display: inline-block;\">META<\/span> came in eighth place with 3,371 H-1B workers and currently faces a lawsuit claiming the company systematically favors foreign workers.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Plaintiffs in the case argue that Meta has a pattern of prioritizing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.benzinga.com\/news\/legal\/25\/02\/43964101\/meta-hit-with-lawsuit-claiming-it-favors-foreign-workers-over-us-citizens-mark-zuckerberg-led-tech-giant-calls-it-baseless\">visa holders<\/a> for employment, a claim supported by court-cited statistics: 15% of Meta\u2019s U.S. workforce holds H-1B visas, compared to 0.5% across all industries.<\/p>\n<p>Meta has denied the allegations and called the discrimination claims \u201cbaseless.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tesla, Inc.<\/strong> <span class=\"ticker\" data-ticker=\"TSLA\" data-exchange=\"NASDAQ\" style=\"display: inline-block;\">TSLA<\/span> ranked near the bottom of the 30 companies on Pew Research&#8217;s list with less than 1,100 H-1B visas, accounting for 0.3% of total H-1B approvals. Tesla CEO<strong> Elon Musk<\/strong> has been an outspoken<a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/elonmusk\/status\/1872374103983759835\"> proponent<\/a> of the visa program, likening it to drafting talented foreign players to bolster an NBA team.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The H-1B program, established in 1990, enables U.S. employers to recruit skilled foreign professionals with bachelor&#8217;s degrees or equivalent qualifications for specialized roles.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>H1-B visas are initially valid for three years, renewable up to six years, with potential extensions for those pursuing permanent residency.
