Guard Sarah Ashlee Barker scored a career-high 45 points.<\/p>\n<p id=\"453FV6ZAL5CPXKENZRWCD5PWQI\">And yet, by the time the final buzzer sounded, Alabama\u2019s season was over. The Crimson Tide missed out on the Sweet 16 yet again, having not played in it since 1998.<\/p>\n<p id=\"YKBSQBGCVNAHJNRSJANVWUWCYE\">Key players fouling out for No. 5 seed Alabama opened the door for No. 4 seed Maryland to push through and outlast the Crimson Tide 111-108 in double overtime in the second round of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.al.com\/alabamabasketball\/2025\/03\/alabama-womens-basketball-duo-leads-tide-to-victory-in-march-madness.html\">the NCAA Tournament<\/a> in College Park, Maryland on Monday. The Terrapins advance to face No. 1 seed South Carolina on Friday in Birmingham.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<aside id=\"31jWWV\">\n<\/aside>\n<blockquote>\n<p id=\"VoG0R3\">At the end of the first overtime, the Terps did the one thing they shouldn\u2019t have done: foul a 3-point shooter with one second remaining. But that\u2019s what happened, and Barker went to the line with a chance to send the game to double overtime.<\/p>\n<p id=\"ccGPdZ\">\u201cI said, \u2018Pray for me,\u2019\u201d said Barker, who made all three free throws.<\/p>\n<p id=\"XaBnvu\">Barker finished with a program-high 45 points on 17-of-25 shooting and took on a huge load in the overtime periods as Alabama lost <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/womens-college-basketball\/player\/_\/id\/4398766\/zaay-green\">Zaay Green<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/womens-college-basketball\/player\/_\/id\/4597509\/aaliyah-nye\">Aaliyah Nye<\/a>, who both fouled out late in the fourth quarter.<\/p>\n<p id=\"70Bb5N\">\u201cI wish I could have done more,\u201d Barker said. \u201cJust the opportunity to be here, the opportunity to play for Alabama, represent Alabama, yeah 45 points is a lot, but I would have loved to win rather than score 45 points, but at the end of the day, it\u2019s not my glory.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p id=\"X9NJWF\">Star Sarah Ashlee Barker scored a whopping 45 points on her own, including an ice-in-her-veins three straight free throws as the clock expired to send the game into the final overtime. <\/p>\n<p id=\"0H6Vq4\">Like Josh said yesterday, just a few years ago, seeing either Alabama hoops team still playing on March 24th felt like a pipe dream, let alone both of them&#8230; So Roll Tide to that. <\/p>\n<hr class=\"p-entry-hr\" id=\"zhGPTj\"\/>\n<p id=\"gQ2kgb\">The transfer portal has opened up for basketball (seriously, did the powers that be <em>intentionally<\/em> make all of the portal windows at the worst possible time? March Madness is still ongoing). <\/p>\n<aside id=\"wZhTmZ\">\n<\/aside>\n<blockquote>\n<p id=\"NwHOG5\">A former <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tuscaloosanews.com\/story\/sports\/college\/sec\/2025\/03\/24\/north-dakota-transfer-portal-pipeline-alabama-basketball-treysen-eaglestaff-jacari-white\/82591870007\/\">Alabama basketball<\/a> big man is back in the transfer portal.<\/p>\n<p id=\"IYHTcC\">South Carolina forward <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tuscaloosanews.com\/story\/sports\/college\/sec\/2025\/01\/07\/alabama-basketball-talks-facing-old-teammate-nick-pringle-at-south-carolina-sec-nate-oats\/77290792007\/\">Nick Pringle<\/a> told <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/TiptonEdits\/status\/1904250291483996334\">On3<\/a> he would enter the transfer portal after one season with the Gamecocks.<\/p>\n<p id=\"rfHEcA\">After starting his collegiate career at Wofford, Pringle spent two seasons at <a href=\"https:\/\/sportsdata.usatoday.com\/basketball\/ncaab\/teams\/alabama-crimson-tide\/1284\/\">Alabama<\/a>, playing in 70 games, primarily as a bench player, from 2022-24. In 13.1 minutes per game, Pringle averaged 5.1 points and 4.1 rebounds per game.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p id=\"4xpBfS\">And as in football so in hoops. Guys that transfer once will probably transfer again. It just seems to be the way of things the last couple of years.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"p-entry-hr\" id=\"epvZnN\"\/>\n<p id=\"Zz7gQ0\">This one is behind a paywall, but is a good article on Jah-Marien Latham\u2019s transformation from defensive line to linebacker:<\/p>\n<aside id=\"iat8Tj\">\n<\/aside>\n<blockquote>\n<p id=\"tJfihw\">\u201cMan, he\u2019s like 10 times faster,\u201d Overton said of Latham. \u201cIt\u2019s a different type of game when you lose that weight. When I came in, I had to gain weight and it kind of slows your game down a little bit, but you have to make sure you adjust to that weight. <\/p>\n<p id=\"Y09Z42\">\u201cZebbo, he\u2019s taking his weight loss to a whole nother level. He\u2019s adjusting just like this (snaps fingers), as if he was already that weight. So him being able to make sure he\u2019s moving faster just expands his game, especially when he has to drop and stuff.\u201d<\/p>\n<p id=\"1qdzkj\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.on3.com\/db\/tim-keenan-112743\/\"><strong>Tim Keenan<\/strong><\/a>, Alabama\u2019s most experienced interior lineman, expects big things from Latham.<\/p>\n<p id=\"OjN7Xs\">\u201cZebbo, he\u2019s always been a freak athlete,\u201d Keenan said. \u201cHe\u2019s always had that twitch, that wiggle to him. I don\u2019t think he\u2019ll have too many problems. If anything, I feel like he\u2019s really fixing to take off.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p id=\"aOnHPa\">I actually had no idea Latham was called \u201cZebbo\u201d, so that was new. In any case, he\u2019s always felt like kind of a player without an exact position, so seeing him try to get to linebacker size is interesting. His teammates sure seem to think he\u2019s got the athletic chops to make it happen. <\/p>\n<hr class=\"p-entry-hr\" id=\"R4owdf\"\/>\n<p id=\"y5D3Kd\">Next, after his impressive performance at Alabama\u2019s Pro Day, Jalen Milroe\u2019s 40-yard dash has been the subject of plenty of online talk lately. Kalen DeBoer talked to some NFL Draft analysts about him yesterday and had plenty of good things to say:<\/p>\n<aside id=\"fYSpZI\">\n<\/aside>\n<blockquote>\n<p id=\"D97O6E\">\u201cIt continues to be more of the same. Ball comes off his hand really well and I thought he threw with good accuracy. He can throw to all levels of the field,\u201d DeBoer said Monday. \u201cThe running piece I think speaks for itself. So much that he\u2019s shown on film over the last couple years. He\u2019s not just running to guys; he\u2019s running through and by them.<\/p>\n<p id=\"K7nTZK\">\u201cSo, that really didn\u2019t surprise me as far as how he ran, but the other stuff is just more verification. Elements and some things under center. Stuff that maybe you didn\u2019t get a chance to see as much of, but he looked pretty comfortable.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p id=\"1FDmqp\">Watching where Milroe winds up getting drafted is going to be fascinating. He\u2019s definitely a polarizing prospect with a volatile game. If a team convinces themselves they can coach him into consistency, he could go really high. And at the same time, there are likely a number of teams that will have him totally off their draft board&#8230;. So who knows what\u2019s going to happen. <\/p>\n<p id=\"qP5ohb\">In football recruiting, Steve Wiltfong just dropped a prediction that 5-star cornerback Jorden Edmonds seems likely to commit to Alabama. <\/p>\n<p id=\"0NtmQm\">The Georgia native is an impressive 6\u20193\u201d cornerback that 247Sports views as the #10 overall prospect in the country and the top corner in the class. <\/p>\n<p id=\"BcSD4S\">Finally, congrats to former Tide great, Sherman Williams, for getting the head coaching job at Murphy High in Mobile!<\/p>\n<aside id=\"1VWEFc\">\n<\/aside>\n<blockquote>\n<p id=\"DXAPZM4D4RBD7OEEEMO73P5AJI\">Former Blount High and Alabama football star Sherman Williams has been approved as the new head football coach at Murphy High in Mobile.<\/p>\n<p id=\"TQ3DFEPGABEHBFVWHD2L6TXID4\">Williams replaces Justin Hannah as the team\u2019s head coach. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.al.com\/highschoolsports\/2024\/09\/class-6a-football-program-making-a-mid-season-coaching-change.html\">Hannah was relieved of his coaching duties in September<\/a>. Dwight Lambert finished the season as the Panthers\u2019 interim coach.<\/p>\n<p id=\"XMGA7FEJBVFQDBS7RWAAVMQ4HQ\">It\u2019s the first head coaching job for Williams, who was approved by the Mobile County School Board at its monthly meeting Monday morning.
