This led to a loss of \u00a3306.9m in the year to December 2024 compared to a loss of \u00a314.3m in 2023.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.moreaboutadvertising.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/s3-news-tmp-90538-s3-news-tmp-77017-s4-capital-featured-image-1024x573-2x1-940-2x1-940-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"940\" height=\"470\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1799547\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.moreaboutadvertising.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/s3-news-tmp-90538-s3-news-tmp-77017-s4-capital-featured-image-1024x573-2x1-940-2x1-940-1.png 940w, https:\/\/www.moreaboutadvertising.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/s3-news-tmp-90538-s3-news-tmp-77017-s4-capital-featured-image-1024x573-2x1-940-2x1-940-1-300x150.png 300w, https:\/\/www.moreaboutadvertising.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/s3-news-tmp-90538-s3-news-tmp-77017-s4-capital-featured-image-1024x573-2x1-940-2x1-940-1-768x384.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 940px) 100vw, 940px\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Sorrell blamed the loss (including the hefty impairment charge) on tech companies investing in AI instead of marketing. Total revenue fell 16.1 per cent to \u00a3848m.<\/p>\n<p>S4 shares actually rose 4% as S4 reduced its net debt from \u00a3180m to \u00a3140m and declared its first dividend, 1p a share. Presumably investors are hoping that the big impairment covers any horrors to come. S4, if that\u2019s out of the way, may re-emerge as a takeover target. Mark Penn\u2019s Stagwell made a tentative approach last year. Despite the losses \u00a3848m is a lot of revenue for someone.<\/p>\n<p>The downside is that previously all-conquering Big Tech now no longer has money to burn, with AI costing a fortune and Donald Trump\u2019s tariffs likely to lead to increased costs for many, particularly those heavily exposed to China like Apple and Tesla.
