Join TheStreet Pro today and get first month FREE<\/strong><\/a> \ud83e\udd11<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This acquisition represents an investment by Google Cloud to accelerate two large and growing trends in the AI era: improved cloud security and the ability to use multiple clouds (multicloud),&#8221; Google said of the company&#8217;s largest deal.<\/p>\n<p>This wasn&#8217;t the first time Google went off to see the Wiz. Last year the New York company skipped out on a potential $23 billion acquisition by Google and told employees that it would pursue an IPO instead.<\/p>\n<p>However, 2022 and 2023 saw the weakest IPO market since the global financial crisis, EY said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ey.com\/en_us\/insights\/assurance\/ipo-market-in-2025#:%7e:text=However%2C%202022%20and%202023%20were,since%20the%20global%20financial%20crisis.\">January study<\/a>, due to recession fears, falling valuations and increasing interest rates.\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure>\n<p>                        <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thestreet.com\/.image\/c_fit%2Ch_800%2Cw_1200\/MjExODkyNzE5OTY0OTIzNDI3\/google-ceo-says-antitrust-trials-could-drag-on-for-many-years.jpg\" height=\"800\" width=\"1200\"><figcaption>Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai just executed the company&#8217;s biggest acquisition.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gettyimages.com\/detail\/2173545116\">Bloomberg&amp;sol;Getty Images<\/a><\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h2>Analyst calls deal a robust strategic move<\/h2>\n<p>EY said that the M&amp;A environment is expected to become more accommodative under the Trump administration, and as a result \u201ccompanies should be able to scale quicker ahead of a public listing, and the ability to use public stock as acquisition currency becomes more attractive.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Google donated $1 million to Trump\u2019s inauguration fund, and Sundar Pichai, CEO of Alphabet, was among the big tech executives who attended the event.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2025 stock market forecasts<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thestreet.com\/technology\/veteran-trader-who-correctly-picked-palantir-as-top-stock-in-2024-reveals-best-stock-for-2025\">Veteran trader who correctly picked Palantir as top stock in \u201824 reveals best stock for \u201825<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thestreet.com\/technology\/5-quantum-computing-stocks-that-could-soar-in-2025\">5 quantum computing stocks investors are targeting in 2025<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thestreet.com\/investing\/goldman-sachs-picks-top-sectors-to-own-in-2025\">Goldman Sachs picks top sectors to own in 2025<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thestreet.com\/investing\/stocks\/every-major-wall-street-analysts-s-p-500-forecast-for-2025\">Every major Wall Street analyst&#8217;s S&amp;P 500 forecast for 2025<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The company has butted heads with the U.S. Department of Justice, which has filed several cases against Alphabet, including one last year when a federal judge ruled that Google held a monopoly in the search market.<\/p>\n<p>The DoJ recently revised <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thestreet.com\/technology\/justice-department-bold-move-might-have-ripple-effect-on-google-future-\">its proposed remedies<\/a> in its antitrust case against Alphabet.<\/p>\n<p>And the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/news\/618168\/google-search-eu-dma-charge-violation\">EU just hit Alphabet<\/a> with antitrust charges.<\/p>\n<p>Alphabet shares are down nearly 14% year to date, but up about 11% from a year ago.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Investment firms issued research reports following news of the acquisition, including Canaccord analyst Maria Ripps, who called the deal a robust strategic move.<\/p>\n<p>Integrating Wiz should enable Google to offer more complete security offerings to customers, she told investors, and with its unique cloud-native capabilities, it should enable Google to capture growth across the cloud-security market.<\/p>\n<p> Ripps reiterated a buy rating and $225 price target on Alphabet shares.<\/p>\n<p>Jefferies said a deal of this size \u201cemphasizes the mission criticality&#8221; of cybersecurity and should support valuations broadly.<\/p>\n<p>In the near term, however, the deal could pressure cloud vendors such as Palo Alto Networks\u00a0<span> (<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thestreet.com\/quote\/PANW\">PANW<\/a><\/strong>) <\/span>, SentinelOne\u00a0<span> (<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thestreet.com\/quote\/S\">S<\/a><\/strong>) <\/span>\u00a0and CrowdStrike\u00a0<span> (<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thestreet.com\/quote\/CRWD\">CRWD<\/a><\/strong>) <\/span>\u00a0as Google uses its scale to push pricing and penetrate the market, the investment firm said.<\/p>\n<h2>Fund manager sees wave of M&amp;A activity<\/h2>\n<p>Jefferies said it saw no changes to cloud-delivered cybersecurity platform provider Check Point&#8217;s\u00a0<span> (<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thestreet.com\/quote\/CHKP\">CHKP<\/a><\/strong>) <\/span>\u00a0partnership with Wiz, which was announced last month.<\/p>\n<p>Long term, Jefferies said, the deal should benefit pure-play vendors as &#8220;the Switzerland effect is appreciated by customers who may not trust&#8221; Google to guard Amazon&#8217;s\u00a0<span> (<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thestreet.com\/quote\/AMZN\">AMZN<\/a><\/strong>) <\/span>\u00a0AWS and Microsoft&#8217;s\u00a0<span> (<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thestreet.com\/quote\/MSFT\">MSFT<\/a><\/strong>) <\/span>\u00a0Azure.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thestreet.com\/technology\/justice-department-bold-move-might-have-ripple-effect-on-google-future-\">Related: Justice Department bold move might have ripple effect on Google future<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Chris Versace noted that, as he suspected,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/pro.thestreet.com\/portfolio\/googles-32-billion-cloud-deal-has-implications-for-several-holdings\">the rationale for the transaction <\/a>is for Wiz to augment Google Cloud\u2019s security offering in an effort to alter the current playing field with AWS, Azure and others.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Helping with that, Wiz is a platform trusted by more than 50% of Fortune 100 companies who already use its products and services,&#8221; the veteran fund manager said in his TheStreet Pro column, including customers like Agoda, Avery Dennison, BMW, Cushman &amp; Wakefield, DocuSign, Mars, Plaid, Priceline, Salesforce and Slack.<\/p>\n<p>Versace, lead portfolio manager for TheStreet Pro Portfolio, said that until the deal closes in 2026, Wiz will remain an independent company, continuing to work with all major clouds.<\/p>\n<p>After that Wiz will be folded into Google Cloud, he added, but it is expected to maintain full support as a multicloud solution, meaning it will continue to work with other cloud-services providers.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Generally speaking, a transaction like the Google-Wiz one tends to drive a wave of musical chairs M&amp;A activity as companies look to shore up their capabilities as the playing field changes,&#8221; Versace said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;With the Google-Wiz transaction ranking among the larger if not being the largest M&amp;A deal announced this year, it\u2019s another reason to think M&amp;A activity could expand in the coming weeks,&#8221;
