Featuring portraits of luminaries including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.huckmag.com\/article\/i-am-not-your-negro-documentary-james-baldwin-raoul-peck-interview\">James Baldwin<\/a>, Marsha P. Johnson, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.huckmag.com\/topic\/andy-warhol\">Andy Warhol<\/a>, Candy Darling, and Larry Kramer of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.huckmag.com\/article\/seven-tips-aspiring-artist-activists\">ACT UP<\/a>, the exhibition also includes scenes from the revolution such as the 1966 \u201cSip-In\u201d at Julius\u2019 Bar, 1969 Stonewall Uprising, and first Gay Pride March the following year.  <\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Although married with children, McDarrah aligned himself with Gay Liberation throughout his life. Beat poet <a href=\"https:\/\/www.huckmag.com\/article\/raucous-portrait-beat-generation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Allen Ginsberg<\/a> wrote of the photographer: \u201cThough not gay, a hard-laboring family man himself, he\u2019s made photo records of gay parades for decades \u2013 sign of a real artist\u2019s inquisitive sympathy, intelligent democracy.\u201d  <\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The first iteration of <em>Pride and Protest <\/em>was curated for 2023 Paris Photo by writer <a href=\"https:\/\/mackbooks.co.uk\/products\/the-drawer-br-vince-aletti-br-spbh-editions?srsltid=AfmBOorIgTkWWx_WaJzfDQxEz4Yqw7K5xuXqFyW-GwQlnIunfj29L7J4\">Vince Aletti<\/a>, a longtime contributor to the <em>Village Voice<\/em>.
