Hardback published by Hq Stories 20th June 2024

ISBN 9780008586911

I am in love with somebody I’ve only just met. My heart is a harmonica. South London is a valley. World, hear my song. Ella and Lowe are teenagers when they first met in summer 2000. For her, it’s love at first sight. Certain that the most beautiful boy she’s ever seen couldn’t possibly feel the same, Ella counts herself lucky to have him as her best friend. Over the next fifteen years, they share everything bottles of cider and cigarettes in the rain, gossip and laughter, grief and fear. But every time Lowe kisses another girl, Ella feels her heart break just that little bit more. She’ll have to choose whether it’s enough to be just friends with the love of her life, or if she’s prepared to let the terrifying, beautiful, all-consuming truth come to light.

MY REVIEW

I Love You, I Love You, I Love You is a glorious, pining nostalgia trip for anyone who has ever known the exquisite pain and pleasure of first love. I think we have all been through love at first sight. I know I most definitely have been there in my 20s loved a young man at first sight. I can for sure see this book becoming a film or a short TV series. One my favourite line is in chapter 15. But everything changes. The whole next week Lowe is distant, different. Lowe’s ‘not around’, ‘staying in’ ‘not coming out’, ‘busy’. Is it because I kissed him on the cheek? Did I cross the line? Could he see in his eyes how much I love him……. For fans of One Day by David Nicholls, you will love the whole unique new book, I Love You, I Love You, I Love You, by the Laura Dockrill, who is the new voice of Adult fiction, that everyone is talking about!
