According to the Italian, the decision to sign Diaro Essugo is because the board is looking for someone who can serve as a backup for Moises Caicedo.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How much did Chelsea pay Sporting Lisbon for Diaro Essugo?<\/h2>\n<p>A fee of \u00a318.5million ($23.9m) has been agreed for the 20-year-old, with no add-ons or sell-on clauses included as part of the deal. There are reports that both parties signed a seven-year contract with Essugo is set to join up with the Chelsea first-team squad this summer.<\/p>\n<p>The 17-year-old will remain at the Portuguese club next season and then move to Stamford Bridge in July 2026.
