{"id":136698,"date":"2025-03-16T05:42:52","date_gmt":"2025-03-16T05:42:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/peraltafinancing.com\/apple-2\/apple-launches-new-app-to-help-firms-improve-apple-maps\/"},"modified":"2025-03-16T05:42:52","modified_gmt":"2025-03-16T05:42:52","slug":"apple-launches-new-app-to-help-firms-improve-apple-maps","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fivemor.com\/?p=136698","title":{"rendered":"Apple launches new app to help firms improve Apple Maps"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div id=\"article-hero\" aria-labelledby=\"hero-cap\" role=\"figure\">\n<p id=\"hero-cap\" class=\"hero-caption\" title=\"A screenshot of the new Surveyor app on an iPhone 15.\">A screenshot of the new Surveyor app on an iPhone 15.<\/p>\n<p>                                    <a href=\"https:\/\/photos5.appleinsider.com\/gallery\/62979-130750-Surveyor-iPhone-xl.jpg\" style=\"display: block;\"><br \/>\n              <img decoding=\"async\" fetchpriority=\"high\" src=\"https:\/\/photos5.appleinsider.com\/gallery\/62979-130750-Surveyor-iPhone-xl.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><br \/>\n            <\/a>\n                      <\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"col-sm-12 article-lede\">Apple appears to be expanding its pool of partner companies supplying data for <a href=\"https:\/\/appleinsider.com\/inside\/apple-maps\" title=\"Apple Maps\" data-kpt=\"1\">Apple Maps<\/a>, as it has now released an app especially for firms to contribute updated information.&#13;<\/p>\n<p class=\"col-sm-12\">Just <a href=\"https:\/\/appleinsider.com\/articles\/25\/02\/12\/apple-may-be-trying-to-jump-start-lackluster-apple-vision-pro-sales\">as it did<\/a> with the Apple Vision Pro Demo Fit app \u2014  <a href=\"https:\/\/apps.apple.com\/us\/app\/vision-pro-fit\/id6467056331\">releasing it<\/a> in the <a href=\"https:\/\/appleinsider.com\/inside\/app-store\" title=\"App Store\" data-kpt=\"1\">App Store<\/a> but practically hiding it, Apple now has another new app. This one is called Surveyor, and while <a href=\"https:\/\/apps.apple.com\/us\/app\/maps-surveyor\/id6449049195\">it is available<\/a> in the US App Store, it does not appear to be intended for public use.&#13;<\/p>\n<p class=\"col-sm-12\">Rather than the GPS tracking, multiple cameras and LiDAR scanning that <a href=\"https:\/\/appleinsider.com\/articles\/20\/09\/07\/apple-maps-cars-use-lidar-mac-pro-to-capture-street-data\">Apple&#8217;s fleet<\/a> of Apple Maps cars use, Surveyor is intended to capture images of street signs. While members of the public can already send <a href=\"https:\/\/appleinsider.com\/articles\/21\/04\/28\/how-to-report-an-accident-hazard-or-speed-check-in-apple-maps-for-ios-145\">certain updates<\/a> to Apple Maps, this appears to be more about getting the company extensive information without its own cars having to repeat routes.&#13;<\/p>\n<p class=\"col-sm-12\">As first spotted by <em>MacRumors<\/em>, the Surveyor app itself <a href=\"https:\/\/www.macrumors.com\/2025\/03\/14\/apple-maps-surveyor-app\/\">initially appears<\/a> to do nothing but give the user a button called &#8220;Open Partner App.&#8221; While the phrasing suggest that there could be multiple partner apps, at present choosing the option solely opens one called Premise.&#13;<\/p>\n<p class=\"col-sm-12\">This app is part of a service that rewards users for undertaking certain tasks, typically such as completing surveys. Given the lack of promotion in the App Store and the paucity of detail in Apple&#8217;s Surveyor app itself, it seems most likely that the app is intended to be used by employees of as-yet unknown companies.&#13;<\/p>\n<p class=\"col-sm-12\">However, according to code within Surveyor, it appears that whoever uses the app will be instructed to mount their <a href=\"https:\/\/appleinsider.com\/inside\/iphone\" title=\"iPhone\" data-kpt=\"1\">iPhone<\/a> and drive while using Apple&#8217;s app. It will then record and relay details including street signs.&#13;<\/p>\n<p class=\"col-sm-12\">Separately, it has recently been rumored once more that Apple is considering <a href=\"https:\/\/appleinsider.com\/articles\/25\/02\/16\/apple-maps-paid-search-ads-under-consideration-in-monetization-push\">adding search ads<\/a> to Apple Maps.
