{"id":136031,"date":"2025-03-15T22:50:06","date_gmt":"2025-03-15T22:50:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/peraltafinancing.com\/business\/investing\/clearway-sunpower-at-heart-of-gip-totalenergies-renewables-partnership\/"},"modified":"2025-03-15T22:50:06","modified_gmt":"2025-03-15T22:50:06","slug":"clearway-sunpower-at-heart-of-gip-totalenergies-renewables-partnership","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fivemor.com\/?p=136031","title":{"rendered":"Clearway, SunPower at heart of GIP, TotalEnergies renewables partnership"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>On Wednesday, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/investableuniverse.com\/2022\/05\/06\/global-infrastructure-partnership-agrees-to-buy-wpd-offshore-wind-business\/\">Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP),<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>the global independent infrastructure investor with $81 billion in managed client assets, announced that it has formed a strategic partnership with <a href=\"https:\/\/investableuniverse.com\/2021\/10\/13\/totalenergies-simply-blue-joint-venture-us-offshore-wind-energy\/\"><strong>TotalEnergies<\/strong><\/a> focused on the <a href=\"https:\/\/investableuniverse.com\/2021\/10\/14\/greencoat-capital-renewables-investment-manager-launches-us-wind-solar\/\"><strong>U.S. renewable energy sector<\/strong>.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Under terms of the partnership TotalEnergies will acquire half of GIP\u2019s interest in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.clearwayenergygroup.com\"><strong>Clearway Energy Group<\/strong><\/a>, a privately held renewable development company that owns a controlling stake with a 42 percent economic interest in listed energy provider <strong>Clearway Energy, Inc.<\/strong>\u00a0 In return, GIP will receive $1.60 billion in cash, plus an approximately 50 percent interest in the TotalEnergies subsidiary that holds its 51 percent ownership in publicly traded <a href=\"https:\/\/us.sunpower.com\"><strong>SunPower<\/strong> <strong>Corporation<\/strong><\/a>, a leader in U.S. residential solar (per GIP, final amounts will be subject to purchase price adjustments).<u\/><u\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"m_7330821897958051581MsoBodyText\">Clearway owns the fifth largest operating portfolio of non-regulated renewable assets in the U.S. (5.7 GW) and a 22 GW development pipeline and will represent TotalEnergies\u2019 largest investment in U.S. renewables to date. Since early 2021, TotalEnergies has secured a development pipeline of 8 GW onshore renewables and 4 GW offshore wind in the U.S.\u00a0 TotalEnergies will enhance Clearway\u2019s growth prospects by providing (i) a right of first offer on its U.S. onshore renewable assets to CWEN, and (ii) access to TotalEnergies\u2019 U.S. power marketing capabilities and corporate relationships to optimize and enhance the commercial value of Clearway\u2019s development and operating projects.\u00a0<u\/><u\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"m_7330821897958051581MsoBodyText\">SunPower is the second largest residential solar company in the U.S., providing customers with fully integrated solar, storage, home energy and financing solutions.
