And he is now being punished because people in power don&#8217;t like what he said.&#8221; said Ed Yohnka, Communications Director, ACLU of Illinois<\/p>\n<p>A judge has ruled that Mahmoud Khalil will remain detained until at least next week as the Trump administration moves forward with plans to deport him. Khalil, who served as the lead negotiator during Columbia University demonstrations, is being labeled a national security threat\u2014a claim his supporters say is unconstitutional and politically motivated.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/acluofil\/\">@acluofil<\/a> , <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/icirr_il\/\">@icirr_il<\/a> , <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/uspcn\/\">@uspcn<\/a> , and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/sigchofor25\/\">@sigchofor25<\/a> joined CAIR-Chicago in defending Khalil. Ald.
