To stay in these plans, borrowers must re-certify their income annually by re-submitting the income-driven repayment application.<\/p>\n<p>Normally, if a borrower misses their recertification deadline, their <a href=\"https:\/\/thecollegeinvestor.com\/student-loan-debt\/monthly-payment\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">monthly payment<\/a> is automatically changed to the <a href=\"https:\/\/thecollegeinvestor.com\/student-loan-debt\/standard-repayment-plan\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">Standard Repayment Plan<\/a> amount, which results in a much higher payment. Borrowers on <a href=\"https:\/\/thecollegeinvestor.com\/43245\/save-repayment-plan\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">SAVE<\/a> are already in forbearance pending the outcome of the ongoing litigation.<\/p>\n<p>For borrowers in IBR, ICR, and <a href=\"https:\/\/thecollegeinvestor.com\/student-loan-debt\/paye\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">PAYE<\/a>, the options depend on when their re-certification deadline is. Borrowers can find this by logging into their loan servicer&#8217;s account at StudentAid.gov.<\/p>\n<p>With income-driven repayment applications currently <strong>unavailable<\/strong>, borrowers have a few options:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"\">\n<li><strong>Check with loan servicers about recertification extensions<\/strong>: Some borrowers may have their deadlines moved forward, allowing them to stay on their existing payment plan.
