Why Motorcycle vs Vehicle Accidents Are Dangerous

Collisions involving motorcycles and larger vehicles often result in severe or fatal injuries for motorcyclists due to their lack of physical protection. Unlike occupants of passenger vehicles, motorcyclists are exposed to direct impact forces, which significantly increase the risk of traumatic injuries such as head trauma, spinal cord damage, and internal bleeding. Additionally, motorcycles are more susceptible to being overlooked by drivers due to their smaller size, especially when vehicles enter roadways or make sudden turns.

In this case, the crash occurred when a Subaru SUV pulled out of a driveway into Fuller’s path. Such scenarios are common in motorcycle accidents, as drivers may misjudge an oncoming rider’s speed or fail to yield properly. When a motorcycle strikes a vehicle or is forced into an evasive maneuver, the rider is often thrown from their bike, leading to catastrophic consequences.

“The loss of Kathryn Mary Fuller in this heartbreaking crash serves as a painful reminder of the dangers motorcyclists face on the road every day,” says Gerald Singleton, managing partner of Singleton Schreiber, a personal injury law firm. “Our firm has handled numerous cases where a driver’s failure to yield or recognize a motorcycle resulted in a devastating loss. We extend our deepest condolences to Ms. Fuller’s family and hope they find justice and support during this difficult time.”
