I prefer Taylor mercury oven<br \/>thermometers.<\/p>\n<p><strong>STEP 2<\/strong>: Position rack, second from bottom level. Place one thermometer on<br \/>right side of rack to the rear. Place second thermometer on left side of rack<br \/>to the front.<\/p>\n<p><strong>STEP 3:<\/strong> Turn on oven to 350 degrees F, and preheat for 30 minutes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>STEP 4<\/strong>: Read both thermometers insuring no heat loss when comparing<br \/>them.<\/p>\n<p><strong>STEP 5<\/strong>: If you have set your oven at 350 degrees F and both thermometers<br \/>read 350 degrees F, your oven need no adjustment.<\/p>\n<p><strong>STEP 6<\/strong>: If your thermometers are different than the 350 degrees Fahrenheit<br \/>programed on your oven, then you must adjust the oven\u2019s thermostat up or<br \/>down accordingly.<\/p>\n<p><strong>EXAMPLE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If I programmed my oven to 350 degrees F and the thermometers inside the oven read 380 degrees F, then I must set the oven thermostat to 320 degrees F, to correct the oven thermostat, so it is truly 350 degrees F.<br \/>Thermometer reads 380 degrees F<br \/>Desired oven setting 350 degrees F<br \/>Difference is 30 degrees F<\/p>\n<p>So, in this example, when the desired baking temperature is 350 degrees F, the oven\u2019s setting must be set at 320 degrees F, because you have determined that the oven cavity bakes 30 degrees higher than the oven\u2019s<br \/>control setting.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"et_bloom_bottom_trigger\"\/>\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n<p><script>\n!function(f,b,e,v,n,t,s)\n{if(f.fbq)return;n=f.fbq=function(){n.callMethod?\nn.callMethod.apply(n,arguments):n.queue.push(arguments)};\nif(!f._fbq)f._fbq=n;n.push=n;n.loaded=!0;n.version='2.0';\nn.queue=[];t=b.createElement(e);t.async=!0;\nt.src=v;s=b.getElementsByTagName(e)[0];\ns.parentNode.insertBefore(t,s)}(window,document,'script',\n'https:\/\/connect.facebook.net\/en_US\/fbevents.js');\n fbq('init', '290911304606285'); \nfbq('track', 'PageView');\n<\/script><br \/>\n<br \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ok, I admit I am a \u201ccontrol freak\u201d and a perfectionist, especially when I bake.
