{"id":129829,"date":"2025-03-13T03:33:10","date_gmt":"2025-03-13T03:33:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/peraltafinancing.com\/aerospace\/southwest-ends-long-standing-free-checked-luggage-perk-aerotime\/"},"modified":"2025-03-13T03:33:10","modified_gmt":"2025-03-13T03:33:10","slug":"southwest-ends-long-standing-free-checked-luggage-perk-aerotime","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fivemor.com\/?p=129829","title":{"rendered":"Southwest ends long-standing free checked luggage perk- AeroTime"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Southwest Airlines is ending its free checked baggage policy, one of its most well-known perks.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement released March 11, 2025, the Dallas-based airline said that as the company is evolving \u201crapidly\u201d, it is implementing new initiatives that support its business objectives.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have tremendous opportunity to meet current and future customer needs, attract new Customer segments we don\u2019t compete for today, and return to the levels of profitability that both we and our Shareholders expect,\u201d said Bob Jordan, President, Chief Executive Officer, &amp; Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors at Southwest Airlines..\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"article-leaderboard bn-1\"\/>\n<p>\u201cWe will do all this while remaining focused on what\u2019s made us strong\u2014our people and the authentic, friendly, and award-winning customer service only they can provide,\u201d Jordan added.<\/p>\n<p>For decades, Southwest has been known to offer two free checked bags per customer, an advantage it had over competitors, making it a popular choice for families traveling.<\/p>\n<p>The airline will begin charging checked baggage fees for the first and second bag from May 28, 2025.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"article-leaderboard bn-2\"\/>\n<p>Southwest will continue to offer two free checked bags to its Rapid Rewards A-List Preferred Members and customers traveling on Business Select fares, and one free checked bag to A-List Members and other select customers.
