Step 1: Create an SSH User for a Domain<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Before you can log in via SSH, ensure you have an SSH user set up for the domain. There are two ways to do this:<\/p>\n

Option 1: Enable SSH Access for a Specific Domain<\/strong><\/h4>\n
    \n
  1. Log in to Plesk.<\/li>\n
  2. Navigate to Websites & Domains<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  3. Click on the domain you want to enable SSH access for.<\/li>\n
  4. Go to Hosting & DNS<\/strong> > Hosting Settings<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  5. Scroll to the bottom of the page.<\/li>\n
  6. Locate the SSH access<\/strong> setting and change the type from Forbidden<\/code> to \/bin\/bash\/<\/code>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Option 2: Create a Temporary Domain Package<\/strong><\/h4>\n

    Alternatively, if you need a temporary SSH user, you can create a new domain package and enable SSH access when setting up the package.<\/p>\n

    Step 2: Gain Superuser Access<\/strong><\/h3>\n

    Once SSH access is enabled for the domain, follow these steps to gain superuser privileges:<\/p>\n

      \n
    1. Open your SSH client and connect to the server using the domain\u2019s SSH username and password.<\/li>\n
    2. Run the following command to switch to a superuser:\n
      su<\/code><\/pre>\n<\/li>\n
    3. Enter the password for the Plesk Administrator when prompted.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
      Step 3: Modify SSH Configuration<\/strong><\/h3>\n
      To ensure root login is permitted, follow these steps:<\/p>\n
        \n
      1. Open the SSH configuration file using a text editor such as vim<\/code> or nano<\/code>:\n
        vim \/etc\/ssh\/sshd_config<\/code><\/pre>\n
        or<\/p>\n
        nano \/etc\/ssh\/sshd_config<\/code><\/pre>\n<\/li>\n
      2. Locate the line that reads:\n
        #PermitRootLogin prohibit-password<\/code><\/pre>\n<\/li>\n
      3. Modify it to:\n
        PermitRootLogin yes<\/code><\/pre>\n
        (If there is a #<\/code> at the beginning of the line, remove it.)<\/p>\n<\/li>\n
      4. Save the changes and exit the editor.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
        Step 4: Restart the SSH Service<\/strong><\/h3>\n
        After modifying the configuration, restart the SSH service to apply the changes:<\/p>\n
        systemctl restart sshd<\/code><\/pre>\n
        This will disconnect you from the server temporarily. Wait for about a minute, then attempt to reconnect. At this point, the Plesk Migration Tool should work as expected.<\/p>\n
        Step 5: Restart SSHD from the Recovery Console (If Needed)<\/strong><\/h3>\n
        If you are unable to log back in after restarting SSH, manually restart the SSH service using the recovery console:<\/p>\n
          \n
        1. Navigate to your VPS dashboard.<\/li>\n
        2. Click the drop-down menu Server Actions<\/strong> and select Recovery Console<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
        3. Log in as the root user when prompted.<\/li>\n
        4. Use the Plesk admin password when asked.<\/li>\n
        5. Restart the SSH service manually by running:\n
          systemctl restart sshd<\/code><\/pre>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
          This should resolve any connection issues and allow the Plesk Migration Tool to function correctly.<\/p>\n
