If you ever wondered just how important the jurors\u2019 first
\nimpressions of your client and witnesses are, here\u2019s a mind-boggling social experiment<\/a>,
\nposted on Facebook.<\/p>\n

It shows people walking right past well-known and loved
\nfamily members, not recognizing a single one of them, when the family members
\nwere dressed as homeless individuals, sitting as the homeless often do, on the
\nsidewalk by a building.<\/p>\n

Now, if dress and body posture can fool a daughter into not
\nrecognizing her mother, or parents into not recognizing their own children,
\nimagine how critical the attire and body language of your client and witnesses
\nare. The jurors can easily be misled as to the credibility and sincerity of
\nyour witnesses, strangers as they all are, at the beginning of trial.<\/p>\n

In jury debriefings, it was found, for example, that a
\nneurosurgeon who wore a black shirt under his expensive dark suit, was labeled
\n\u201cMafia Doc\u201d by the jurors when nothing could have been farther from the truth.
\nA handsome thirty-year-old CPA, who persisted in running his hand through his
\nstylish somewhat long locks, was dubbed \u201cPlayer\u201d by the jurors, and his
\ntestimony deemed suspect: \u201cNobody who looks like that could ever be serious.\u201d<\/p>\n

First impressions matter. From the moment your
\nclient\/witness steps into the courtroom, all juror eyes are upon them. And
\njurors judge everything they see according to stereotyped definitions which
\nunfortunately hold great power. Even as the trial unfolds, failure to attend to
