If you like your chai stronger \u2013 you can buy masala chai separately, and add it to your MUD\\WTR.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n I swear the first sip took me back to the random goats ambling next to a street vendor set up on a foldaway table where he brewed the chai on a tiny propane stove, and added fresh cinnamon and some goat\u2019s milk at the foot of a mountain while rickshaws and cars sped by just a few blocks away. It tastes <\/span>nothing<\/span><\/i> like chai from Starbucks, so if that\u2019s your reference, you\u2019ll either love it or hate it, because it isn\u2019t overly sweet or full of strange ingredients.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The reasons to love MUD\\WTR<\/a> are many. Aside from the fact that it\u2019s 100% USDA Organic, non-GMO, gluten free, vegan, Whole30 and Kosher, let\u2019s start with its super dope packaging. There are few food items I like to leave out on my kitchen counter, because I don\u2019t like clutter, and because, let\u2019s face it something consumable is usually in a throw-away package. I leave MUD\\WTR because it\u2019s just so darned sexy looking in its black tin. So there\u2019s that. It\u2019s a superficial reason to like the product, but their CEO is a former product designer, so of course it looks fly.<\/span><\/p>\n It also comes in a box with stickers that say things like F**** Coffee, just to psychologically support your endeavor to give up caffeine, or at least lower your intake. You also get, in your first box with the VIP subscription, a NASA-inspired battery-powered whip that you can also plug into a USB if you want to froth your Chai. I have to say, it\u2019s super smart marketing and entirely UNboring.<\/span><\/p>\n Now onward to the part that really counts \u2013 the MUD\\WTR itself. It doesn\u2019t taste anything like coffee. It tastes like a supercharged tea with a chocolatey flavor. If you\u2019re used to the taste of coffee as part of your morning ritual, it may take a minute to get used to so much earthy goodness, but I personally love it.<\/span><\/p>\n The fact that you can mix in anything of your choice also gives you ample opportunity to personalize the beverage, and with so much less caffeine, but gobs of nutritional value, warmed in a cup, MUD\\WTR is heaven sent. I don\u2019t get the coffee jitters. I don\u2019t lose sleep at night.<\/span><\/p>\n I no longer need 2, then 3, then 4 cups of coffee to keep my brain on task throughout the day, and stop falling asleep during a 3PM Zoom call. I add a dollop of vegan whipped cream to mine, and no sugar or creamer, and it\u2019s an absolute delight for around .80 to .90 cents as opposed to paying $5 and driving to my local coffee shop for something far less nutritionally dense.<\/span><\/p>\n I also don\u2019t get that \u201cinstant\u201d kick I\u2019m used to with coffee, but more of a subtle, slow, ramp up into full consciousness. I\u2019m a slow starter and NOT a morning person, so I kind of like a beverage that lets me ease into my day without feeling like it\u2019s dragging me out of my slumber kicking and screaming.<\/span><\/p>\n I also like that if I don\u2019t happen to get around to making my cup of MUD\\WTR<\/a> until later in the morning or early afternoon, I\u2019m not going to lose sleep that night. On top of all that, I\u2019m also not experiencing coffee withdrawal headaches that can come if you try to drop your caffeine habit cold-turkey, so I\u2019d say that adopting this new habit is a huge win.<\/span><\/p>\n This coffee alternative comes as a subscription \u2013 although you can adjust your shipment or cancel anytime.
